Upon the band's formation, they released one extended play (EP) in 2007, titled This Is Your Way Out, and shortly after, the group underwent significant line-up and sound changes, dropping their metalcore influence and leaning towards a more rock sound. The band released their debut studio album, Relativity (2008), which featured vocalist Jonny Craig and rhythm guitarist Jonas Ladekjaer. Their second studio album, Emarosa, was released in June 2010, to critical acclaim, and was Craig's final album with the group.
Following Craig's departure, the band toured briefly with a fill-in vocalist before entering a period of inactivity. Eventually, Craig was formally replaced by Walden. Emarosa then released their third studio album, Versus, on September 9, 2014, which peaked at No. 61 in the Billboard 200. The band signed to Hopeless Records and released their fourth and fifth studio albums, 131 (2016) and Peach Club (2019). A sixth, Sting, is set for release in January 2023.

Jesus Plays A Firebird
Emarosa Lyrics

Just leave love, beloved,
Dance, dance I will watch,
Smile as it burns.
In your white room
Pictures fade away.
So quiet I'm losing my voice,
Tonight we dance,
And fade all so quietly away.
With looks on fire she lured him
She said with words of a bitter past
Our future may lie a lesser known fiction,
My salvation my destroyer
You leave me reckless and without,
So reckless and without.
There's no one above you,
These words hold true and if I found you
I'd love you forever
These thoughts that I have thought without you
Feed a blackened heart.
I see a light,
And it's my life,
My question to the night
I ask
Will you ever hear my song?
Two worlds remain in harmony
As I stand by myself...
My God
Help me to find a way
To reach to you without
Falling apart myself,
My conscience-
A reason
To mask all of my doubts
If I ever felt brushed with your greatness,
I would always know I'd only weigh us down.
And when it all ends,
I felt nothing at all
The song 'Jesus Plays A Firebird' by Emarosa paints a picture of a relationship that is coming to an end. The singer begs their lover not to leave, telling them to leave their love behind and dance. The singer watches on quietly as everything burns down around them; pictures fade away in the white room, and there is an overwhelming feeling of losing one's voice. The tone is melancholy, and the lyrics are filled with a sense of hopelessness and despair.
The singer acknowledges their love for this person and admits to feeling black inside without them. They describe feeling reckless and without, which implies they're not entirely themselves without their lover. The second half of the song describes the singer's inner turmoil, begging for help and guidance from a higher power. The lines "Two worlds remain in harmony, as I stand by myself" highlight a feeling of disconnection from their partner and an inability to connect with the divine. They long for a reason to mask their doubts and find a way to reach their partner without falling apart themselves.
Overall, this song is about feeling lost and disconnected from those you love the most. It's a poignant reminder that sometimes the things we cherish most can slip through our fingers, leaving us feeling empty and alone.

Wait! before you go..
Please wait before you leave
Just leave love, beloved,
Leave behind your love, dear one
Dance, dance I will watch,
Dance and I will observe
Smile as it burns.
Smile while it destroys
In your white room
In your pure space
Pictures fade away.
Memories disappear
So quiet I'm losing my voice,
So silent, I'm losing my ability to speak
With your voice.
When with you
Tonight we dance,
Tonight we move to music
And fade all so quietly away.
And disappear so softly
With looks on fire she lured him
She enticed him with fiery glances
She said with words of a bitter past
She spoke with phrases of a painful history
Our future may lie a lesser known fiction,
Our future could be a less-known story
My salvation my destroyer
What saves me, also ruins me
You leave me reckless and without,
You leave me careless and without direction
So reckless and without.
So unrestrained without purpose
There's no one above you,
No one is better than you
These words hold true and if I found you
These words are honest, and if I found you
I'd love you forever
I would love you for eternity
These thoughts that I have thought without you
These thoughts I have had without you
Feed a blackened heart.
Fuel a dark and angry heart
I see a light,
I see an illumination
And it's my life,
And it's my existence
My question to the night
My inquiry to the darkness
I ask
I request
Will you ever hear my song?
Will you ever listen to my music?
Two worlds remain in harmony
Two worlds coexist peacefully
As I stand by myself...
While I'm alone...
My God
Lord
Help me to find a way
Assist me in discovering a path
To reach to you without
To contact you without
Falling apart myself,
Breaking up myself,
My conscience-
My moral compass-
A reason
A motive
To mask all of my doubts
To hide my uncertainties
If I ever felt brushed with your greatness,
If I ever experienced your magnificence,
I would always know I'd only weigh us down.
I would always realize that I would only burden us.
And when it all ends,
And when everything is over,
I felt nothing at all
I felt nothing
