Their debut album, "Embrace the Eternal", showed a change in style as Embodyment added elements of metalcore to their death metal sound (Embrace the Eternal is one of the earliest deathcore records). "Embrace the Eternal" featured re-makes of the songs "Golgotha" and "Religious Infamy", which were originally from their demos, as well as guest vocals by Bruce Fitzhugh, vocalist for seminal Christian metal band Living Sacrifice.
After the departure of Kris McCaddon on vocals, Embodyment welcomed Sean Corbray as vocalist and recorded "''The Narrow Scope of Things''", released in 2000. This album was the band's first step away from any of the heavier metal subgenres. Instead, their sound on the album was adjusted to alternative metal with hard rock influences and was the first album to feature actual singing and some screamed vocal parts rather than any form of death vocals.
Embodyment next released Hold Your Breath in 2001, an album which saw the removal of all screamed vocals and yet more slight shift away from the remaining metal influence there had been on "The Narrow Scope of Things". Their last album, "''Songs for the Living''", released under [[XS Records]] in 2002, completed the band's transition to alternative/indie rock and was originally made as an industry demo meant to get the band signed to a major label.
Embodyment later disbanded in early 2004 to the disappointment of loyal fans.

Embodyment Lyrics

Receive your fate your prideful pig forever you will not win
I will not be deceived
I will not give into your temptation
I am bought by the Blood of Jesus
The power of heaven protects me
Meaningless to me is blasphemies
You say I am weak (by Christ I'm made strong)
Sit at your throne of this world creating your patchwork of hate
Call me what you want the truth remains the same
I am branded christian
Immortal soul of mine fearing not this world
I am enslaved by no man
Remaining in my faith I do not stand alone
My spirit is willing
Falling to my knees a servant unto Christ in this world of disease
Forever, eternal. standing by my Father's side
As I watch this world return to sodom & gomorrah
I hate to watch you fall
I bow down to only one God - Christ who died and arose
And to see you wallow in your shame and to deny His love and grace?
I hate to watch you fall
Pride yourself unholy one, never grasp the throne of God
Receive your fate your prideful pig forever you know you will not win
Forget my past
In time you stand to question my faith
A continuing game of chasing your tail
I will not give into your clouded ways
And from this path my foot will never stray
I will not be deceived
I will not give into your temptations
I am bought by the Blood of Jesus
The power of heaven protects me
Meaningless to me is blasphemies
The song "Breed" by Embodyment is a powerful declaration of faith in the face of temptation and deceit. The lyrics speak to the desire to cling onto one's faith despite the chaos and sin in the world, and the internal struggle to avoid falling prey to worldly vices. The song begins by condemning pride, labeling it as an unholy characteristic that will never lead the individual to the throne of God. The singer then asserts their unwillingness to give into temptation and declares their faith in Christ.
The chorus repeats the refrain "I will not be deceived, I will not give into your temptation, I am bought by the Blood of Jesus, the power of heaven protects me, meaningless to me is blasphemies," emphasizing the singer's determination to remain faithful despite external pressures. The song then goes on to highlight the singer's unwavering faith in God, their disdain for the evil in the world that is leading others astray, and their commitment to never stray from the path of righteousness.
Overall, the lyrics of "Breed" are a call to arms for those who are struggling to maintain their faith in a world full of sin and temptation. The song is a reminder that with unwavering faith in Christ, one can overcome any obstacle and remain true to their beliefs.

the speed picking parts are so intense and I love it. And the scary dark riff almost black metalish.
