Their debut album, "Embrace the Eternal", showed a change in style as Embodyment added elements of metalcore to their death metal sound (Embrace the Eternal is one of the earliest deathcore records). "Embrace the Eternal" featured re-makes of the songs "Golgotha" and "Religious Infamy", which were originally from their demos, as well as guest vocals by Bruce Fitzhugh, vocalist for seminal Christian metal band Living Sacrifice.
After the departure of Kris McCaddon on vocals, Embodyment welcomed Sean Corbray as vocalist and recorded "''The Narrow Scope of Things''", released in 2000. This album was the band's first step away from any of the heavier metal subgenres. Instead, their sound on the album was adjusted to alternative metal with hard rock influences and was the first album to feature actual singing and some screamed vocal parts rather than any form of death vocals.
Embodyment next released Hold Your Breath in 2001, an album which saw the removal of all screamed vocals and yet more slight shift away from the remaining metal influence there had been on "The Narrow Scope of Things". Their last album, "''Songs for the Living''", released under [[XS Records]] in 2002, completed the band's transition to alternative/indie rock and was originally made as an industry demo meant to get the band signed to a major label.
Embodyment later disbanded in early 2004 to the disappointment of loyal fans.

Pendulum
Embodyment Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The tower is leading
Grown a thousand years in a single heartbeat
Ripped and torn at the seams
And he falters to his knees
Clutching hands while in her dreams
Sitting on weakness so that strength can stand
Look to the future, caressing the name angels are watching, spreading their wings
Aided by angelic force
Ripped and torn at the seams
The lyrics in Embodyment's song "Pendulum" suggest a level of chaos and instability with lines such as "there's a hitch in the step" and "ripped and torn at the seams." The tower is described as having grown a thousand years in a single heartbeat, representative of how difficult it can be to keep up with the changes and rapid pace of progress in society. Despite the chaos, the lyrics also suggest hope and resilience. The singer is seen clutching their hands in prayer and looking towards the future with optimism. The line "sitting on weakness so that strength can stand" encourages the listener to find strength in the face of adversity and use their weaknesses as a foundation for growth.
The lyrics also mention angels, suggesting a spiritual element to the song. The listener is encouraged to rest and ride on the wings of sacred prayers aided by angelic force. The song's theme of finding hope and strength in the midst of chaos and hardship is a common theme in Embodyment's music, reflecting the band's Christian beliefs and their desire to offer a message of hope and comfort to their listeners.
