She started her solo career in 1999 with a collaboration single along with Tin Tin Out for their single "What I Am", which peaked number 2 on the UK charts. Her debut solo album entitled "A Girl Like Me" was released in 2001, and spawned the UK number-one hit "What Took You So Long?", as well as the top five hits "What I Am" (a cover of a 1998's song earlier recorded by Edie Brickell & New Bohemians) and "Take My Breath Away" (which was not a cover of Berlin's 1986's hit), and top twenty hit "We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight". The album sold around 125,000 in the UK.
In spring of 2003, she returned as Emma (losing the Bunton), with the top five hit "Free Me" and later that year released "Maybe", which also went top ten and outsold the previous single. In spring of 2004, the single "I'll Be There" and the album "Free Me" were released. The album contained '60s-style pop gems and went on to outsell her first album, something other solo Spice Girls have yet to achieve. The album Free Me was released in the United States on January 25, 2005.
Emma released "Downtown" the official charity single for the BBC's 2006 Children in Need appeal, it reached number three. The album "Life in Mono" was released on (4 December).

So don't go breaking my heart
I couldn't if I tried
And honey if I get restless
Baby you're not that kind
So don't go breaking my heart
Oh honey if you knock on my door
Ooh, I gave you my key
Woohooo, nobody knows it
Nobody knoowhoas...
When I was down
I was your clown
Woohooo, nobody knows it
Nobody knoowhoas...
Right from the start
I gave you my heart
Ooohwoah, I gave you my heart
So don't go breaking my heart
I won't go breaking your heart
Don't go breaking my

And nobody told us
Cause nobody showed us
And now it's up to us babe
Ooh, I think we can make it
So don't misunderstand me
You put the light in my life
You make the spark into a flame
I've got your heart in my sights
Woohooo, nobody knows it

Emma bunton! and ronan keeting!
The song "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" is a duet between Emma Bunton and Ronan Keating that speaks to the vulnerability and trust involved in a relationship. The lyrics express a fear of being hurt and a need for protection, culminating in the repeated refrain of not wanting their hearts to be broken. The song also touches on the idea that love doesn't come with a manual or instruction book, and that the success of a relationship is up to the two people involved.
The first verse sets the tone for the song, with Bunton pleading with her partner to not break her heart, even though she acknowledges she couldn't stop them if they tried. She reassures them that she won't be unfaithful or restless, implying that they shouldn't worry about anything changing in their relationship. The chorus reiterates the main message of the song, with both Bunton and Keating taking turns singing that they gave their hearts to each other and don't want them broken.
The second verse shifts slightly to address the fact that both parties may not know how to navigate their love, as no one has shown them how to do so. The song ends on a hopeful note, with Bunton singing that she believes they can make it and that her partner brings light and spark to her life.
Overall, this song conveys a universal feeling of wanting to protect oneself from heartache while still being able to trust and love deeply.

Ronan was stuck on that side of the stage. He also lacked interaction with his co-singer. There were parts where Emma walked to him.
Paul Jet
I agree but he was married just over a year at the time, I'm sure his young wife wouldn't appreciate him enjoying himself with 1/5 of the most popular people in the world at the time;)
