His mother, a singer herself, instilled in him his love of music and a passion for pursuing his muse. As a child, he immersed himself in the many rich styles of music that surrounded him and listened to everything from the traditional romantic ballads of his country, the bolero, to the soundtracks of classic Disney musicals - the lyrics to which he can still recite to this day.
Thomas was awarded a vocal scholarship to Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music but opted, instead, to forego the opportunity when he was asked to tour as a lead singer for the legendary Venezuelan salsa band - La Dimension Latina.
Ender moved to Miami in 2000. There he took a series of odd jobs to support himself while continuing to chase his musical aspirations. He recorded some demos and also appeared on albums by noted Latin performers like Alejandro Sanz and Ricardo Arjona. It was during his sessions with Arjona that Ender met Brazilian producer/musician Cesar Lemos.
Lemos introduced him to Yanni and Ric Wake, when they were looking for someone who could sing in Spanish. Impressed by Ender's rich and highly emotive vocals the pair invited him to join them for their new project. "I figured, let's give this a try because this is my passion," he said. "Once I met them, I felt like I'd known them my entire life. We became fast friends."
Given the chance to work with Yanni and Wake has spurred Thomas' creativity. The result is the cross-cultural depth that now propels everything he writes and sings. "Writing is the most beautiful form of expression a musician can have," he says. "I have been offered an opportunity to say whatever I want to in musical form." "It is the passion and the drama of the music I am making with Yanni and Ric that brings out the best in me. I have so much inside of me and I just want to give it all away."
As Yanni has said, "Ender was born to sing."
