Baby's got blue eyes
Like a deep blue sea
On a blue blue day
Blue eyes
Baby's got blue eyes
When the morning comes
I'll be far away
Blue eyes
Holding back the tears
Holding back the pain
Baby's got blue eyes
And she's alone again
Blue eyes
Baby's got blue eyes
Like a clear blue sky
Watching over me
Blue eyes
I love blue eyes
When I'm by her side
Where I long to be
I will see
Blue eyes laughing in the sun
Laughing in the rain
Baby's got blue eyes
And I am home, and I am home again
Engelbert Humperdinck's song Blue Eyes is a love ballad that talks about the singer's affection for a woman who has beautiful blue eyes. The metaphorical references to blue color throughout the song build the imagery of a serene and calm environment surrounding the woman with blue eyes. The first verse refers to the blue eyes being deep like the sea which hints at the vastness and depth of her emotions. The next verse states that the blue eyes are like a clear blue sky watching over the singer, indicating a protective and serene presence by the woman.
The second half of the song takes a somber tone and talks about the pain and sorrow the woman with blue eyes has experienced. The singer expresses his desire to be by her side and bring happiness to her life. The phrase "and I am home again" that concludes the song denotes the warmth and comfort he feels in her presence. Overall, the song is a classic romantic ode that appreciates a person's beauty, emotions, and companionship.
