Candy
Enon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I speak in fluid
Dripping like a leaky faucet
And i dated summer
From the flock of another shoe

But it's not a thought of you
Just a piece you eat or chew
Thinking i've never felt so new
Never seemed to knew you knew

Your reflection full of candy

I see a doorway
A corridor was barely lit
And i fall from faraway
Gleaming sun antagonist

Parades of sound from nowhere new
Sack of women's seams are blue
Multiply, they're for you to choose
Over sweet to eat amiss
No one could refuse a candy

When all our thoughts were innocent
My teeth took all the blame
With all the salts and dissolutes
The taste has gone to shame

It's way out of turn
Our sense burn
I taste your kiss all over the world

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Enon's song "Candy" are metaphorical and dreamlike in nature, evoking images and sensations that are both strange and vivid. The opening lines describe the singer's communications as "fluid," which sets the tone for the rest of the stanza: "dripping like a leaky faucet." This image is not only a metaphor for language, but also for the singer's emotional state, which seems to be constantly seeping out of them. The next line, "and I dated summer/from the flock of another shoe" suggests a kind of romantic entanglement that has left the singer feeling disconnected and disoriented. Yet in spite of this, they seem to be experiencing a sense of renewal, feeling new and refreshed. The final line of the stanza, "your reflection full of candy," is a cryptic image that hints at both sweetness and deception.

The second stanza continues in this same dreamlike vein, describing a "corridor" that is "barely lit." The imagery is intentionally vague and eerie, conjuring up a sense of unease and foreboding. The lines "parades of sound from nowhere new" and "sack of women's seams are blue" are similarly disorienting, suggesting a world that is unfamiliar and uncanny. Yet despite these unsettling images, the singer seems to be drawn to something irresistibly sweet: "never seemed to knew you knew/Over sweet to eat amiss/No one could refuse a candy."

Taken together, the lyrics to "Candy" suggest a complicated emotional landscape that is both confusing and intriguing. The singer grapples with feelings of disconnection and longing, yet remains drawn to something bright and sweet that promises to offer relief.

on Knock That Door

Yup... just another good song by Enon. But wait! This song is an all-time great. I searched Enon on Spotify, and I knew all the top 5 most popular songs but this one. I knew and liked all the other top 5 Enon songs, so I just listened to this and didn't begin to regret it.

on Spanish Boots

Opportunity nooses than hang beyond the shade(?)
Machiavellian stooges that feign whatever's said
South Floridian ruses with nothing left to sell
Polynesian(?) amusements that fall under the spell

Having the same conversation,
The same hell
Then mainly for yourself

Oh it's the same kind of aim
At the game dealt
And mainly for yourself
For the better of your health

Vanished loot are the riches
That lay upon the breast
Spanish Boots for the witches
That kiss before the test

Gotta loom on the fixes
Bare waste and so severe
Minor shoots at the pieces
Lies burnt to stay, oh it's all so in vain

That it's the same conversation,
The same hell
Then mainly for yourself

Oh it's the same pile of names at the game,
Hell, then mainly for yourself
For the better of your health

Oh it's the same conversation,
The same hell
Then mainly for yourself

Oh it's the same pile of names at the game,
Hell, then mainly for yourself

Oh it's the same conversation,
The same hell
Then mainly for yourself

Oh it's the same pile of names at the game,
Hell, then mainly for yourself
For the better of your health
