Sleepless Nights
Faber Drive Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Another sleepless night and,
Still staring at the ceiling.
I can hear him fighting,
With her for no good reason.

Will this ever end?
Will this house be a home again?
If I had my way,
I'd corner him and say

Put yourself in her position.
All she needs is recognition.
Love's not enough when you say it.
Don't you know you gotta mean it?
Screwing up the best thing ever, is something you'll regret forever

Another day goes by and,
Nothings changed she's still the same.
I can hear her crying,
Thinking shes the one to blame.

Will this ever end?
Will this house be a home again?
If I had my way,
I'd corner him and say

Put yourself in her position.
All she needs is recognition.
Love's not enough when you say it.
Don't you know you gotta mean it?
Screwing up the best thing ever, is something you'll regret forever.
Take her and make sure she feels it.
Let her know you'll never let her go.

Screwing up the best thing ever, is something you'll regret forever.

Another sleepless night and,
Nothings changed she's still the same.
Another stupid fight and,
Someone's gotta say

Put yourself in her position.
All she needs is recognition.
Love's not enough when you say it.
Don't you know you gotta mean it?
Screwing up the best thing ever, is something you'll regret forever.
Take her and make sure she feels it.
Let her know you'll never let her go.

You'll never let her go.
No, no, no.

Put yourself in her position.
All she needs is recognition.

Take her and make sure she feels it.
Let her know you'll never let her go.

Overall Meaning

Faber Drive's Sleepless Nights is a compelling and emotional song that addresses a relationship that appears to be breaking apart. The lyrics are so vividly descriptive that one can feel the pain the singer is experiencing. The song seems to be narrated from a third person's perspective, but there is an undercurrent of personal involvement in the problem. The singer is suffering from sleepless nights due to the incessant fights between a couple who live in the same house. He can hear the two partners arguing, but he doesn’t understand why. He wonders if the suffering will continue, and if the house will ever be a home again.

The singer deeply cares for both partners and is troubled by their inability to see things from each other's perspective. He is torn between supporting them both and intervening in their conflict. The lyrics of the song urge one of the partners to put himself in the other's shoes and understand that recognition and appreciation are essential for a successful relationship. Love can't be merely spoken; it needs to be demonstrated. The singer begs him to take control of the situation and show his partner that he will never let her go. The message of the song is a plea for compassion, understanding, and empathy in a relationship.

This is what I love about Faber Drive. Not only are they some of the most down-to-earth people I've ever met, but they also write such deep and powerful songs such as this one. Anyone can relate to their songs. They are more than capable at expressing themselves without the use of vulgar language. You guys are absolutely amazing! Can't wait for your next album!! :)

I forced myself to watch this video, even though I was crying all through it. My dad's gone now, and it still hurts. They haven't fought in three years or so, they haven't even been near eachother in three years, but I can still hear the yelling and fighting. I can still see the tears. It's just horrible. But you get through it. To anyone who has to deal with this, I'm sorry and I promise you it will be okay. To anyone who has dealt with this, I'm glad you're still around to read this comment.
