Lost in space
Faction Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We pass the distant stars and I ask how, how, how
Lost in space, we'll never get back
Subject to an alien attack
Their scopes and probes can't get us back
Way off course without a clue, all instruments stop working
Weightlessness means no way up
No food no fuel we're outta luck.
The lyrics to "Lost in Space" by Faction explore the consequences of exploration and the potential danger and risks involved in venturing too far out into the unknown. The opening lines of the song, "We've gone too far, what are we to do now?" set the tone for the rest of the lyrics, conveying a sense of panic and desperation as the singer realizes that they are lost in space.
The lyrics suggest that the crew has lost control and is no longer aware of their whereabouts, with the singer pleading, "We pass the distant stars and I ask how, how, how." The chaos and danger are further revealed as the song goes on, with the singer describing the crew's vulnerability to an alien attack and their inability to communicate with Earth or use their instruments as they drift further off course.
These lyrics ultimately serve as a cautionary tale of the risks and consequences of exploration beyond our current understanding and capabilities. It serves as a reminder that the universe remains vastly unknown, and that even with the most advanced technologies available, there is still much to be discovered and understood.
