In April 2009, a new lineup was announced with Cazares returning and Gene Hoglan as drummer. Bell and Stroud are both reprising their respective roles, and the band completed a seventh studio album entitled Mechanize. Former members Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera (both currently playing in Arkaea) dispute the legitimacy of the new lineup, and a legal battle is underway from both parties. The band has performed at three Ozzfests as well as the inaugural Gigantour and has had singles in the US Mainstream Rock Top 40 and albums in the Billboard Top 40, 100, and 200. The band has sold more than 1 million albums in the US alone.
Bonescraper
Fear Factory Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Your life ill fated, beat down and hated
Shot in the head, walking undead
Numb to the world, around your head
RIP my skin from my bones, I won't bleed
RIP my heart from my chest , I won't scream
Hide in the shadows, deep black, and hollow
Damaged and torn, punctured by thorns
I've felt nothing since I was born
RIP my skin from my bones, I won't bleed
RIP my heart from my chest , I won't scream
My Flesh - You Flesh
You Eyes - My Sight
My Pain - Your Shame
We are the same...
RIP my skin from my bones, I won't bleed
RIP my heart from my chest , I won't scream
RIP my skin...
The lyrics of Fear Factory's song Bonescraper paint a vivid picture of a dystopian world where hope is lost, and the living and the undead are indistinguishable. The song's opening lines "There is no future for us to suture, Your life ill-fated, beat down and hated" suggest a nihilistic outlook where the future is bleak and the individual is powerless. The imagery of being "shot in the head, walking undead, Numb to the world, around your head" highlights the numbness and desensitization of people in this world who have been subjected to trauma and pain.
The chorus of the song "RIP my skin from my bones, I won't bleed, RIP my heart from my chest, I won't scream" suggests that the pain has become so overwhelming that the singer would rather be numb and emotionless, essentially dead on the inside, than to suffer any longer. The second verse conveys a sense of hopelessness with lines like "Empty void of light cuts clean, like a knife" and "I've felt nothing since I was born." The closing lines of the song "My Flesh - Your Flesh, You Eyes - My Sight, My Pain - Your Shame, We are the same" suggest a sense of unity amongst all suffering individuals, regardless of their physical state, in this world of pain and despair.
Overall, the lyrics to Fear Factory's song Bonescraper paint a bleak and hopeless picture of a world where pain and suffering are commonplace, where hope is lost, and where the living and the undead are indistinguishable.

This is one of their most brutal tracks for sure. Everything about it. The drums, the vocals, that sick ass breakdown. Classic.
