Come Back Around
Feeder Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Turning in to something
Drifting off to always
Got to pull myself back in

Holding back the questions
Bruised with all rejections
Got to pull myself back in
We've suffered the breaks
You know I still remember it
It keeps burning away
I know that you may take a while
To come back around

Come back around

I miss you around

Reaching out for someone
Burning out for solo
Got to pull myself back in

There's no new religion
And there's no real solution
Got to pull myself back in

We've suffered the breaks
You know I still remember it
It keeps burning away
I know that you may take a while
To come back around

We've suffered the breaks
You know I still remember it
It keeps burning away
I know that you may take a while
To come back around

Come back around

Come back around

Feel you're going under
So keep on treading water
Got to pull myself back in

Feel no obligation
No more indecision
Got to pull myself back in

We've suffered the breaks
You know I still remember it
It keeps burning away
I know that you may take a while
To come back

We've suffered the breaks
You know I still remember it
It keeps burning away
I know that you may take a while

I know that you may take a while
To come back around

Overall Meaning

Feeder's song "Come Back Around" is a reflection on the ups and downs of relationships, particularly those that have suffered breaks and require a lot of work to be repaired. The opening lines paint a picture of someone who is slowly drifting away, disassociating from their relationship, and needs to work hard to pull themselves back in. The singer is holding back questions and feeling bruised from all rejections, and it's clear that the relationship is in flux as they try to move forward.

The chorus is the song's message, with the singer admitting that they know it might take some time, but they want their partner to come back around. The song is realistic about the challenges of maintaining a relationship, saying that "there's no new religion, and there's no real solution," but through the repetition of the chorus, we see that the singer is determined to make things work. The bridge encourages the listener to keep treading water, to keep moving forward even when it feels like they're sinking. The final repetition of the chorus doubles down on the message of the song, that despite the breaks and the burning pain, the singer wants their partner to come back around.

Overall, the song is about the struggle to maintain relationships, even when it feels like it's all falling apart. The lyrics are honest and raw, and the repetition in the chorus drives home the message of the song.

Hell of a single to come back with after suffering such a tragic loss in the band.

This is a fantastic album.

A very well composed rock song. Heavy guitars, great rock drumming and great variation. The bridge around 1:55 is very good.

John would be happy for this tribute. PERFECT DRUMS. Amazing toms, phenomenal cymbal work. That kick outro is nuts. Also phenomenal engineering from mr. Norton. That bass. Wow. Raw vocals.

I read somewhere before that Grant had already written this song before Jons death and that Jon had recorded some drums for it at the time. After Jon died they naturally had to re-record the drums with another musician but kept it as close to Jons original recordings as possible. Hence why this sounds so much like Jons style.

@AJC_24 that is cool, thx for that info!

David James Smith

Mark Richardson of skunk anansie played drums. You tell by the crash’s being leathered towards the end of the track. Beast 💪

This song is special 💚

What a band.

I'd always assumed, but never had it confirmed, that this was a massively symbolic video after Lee's passing. Black and white video, with the four drummers often playing in synchronicity I found hauntingly amazing. This is a very special single.

Jonathan C

Notice how they're not in time with each other or the song necessarily. Symbolising how they were never going to be the same without him. Subtle touch that really adds to it.
