Messenger Messenger
Fit for a King Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Fit For A King's "Messenger Messenger" are about the building of a new nation, which seems to be a metaphor for creating a better future. The imagery of "under the water and on top of graves" suggests that this new nation is rising from the ashes of the past, built upon the pain and struggles of those who came before. The singer expresses a deep sense of purpose and conviction, stating that they have been "building to construct the great revolt."
The mention of a "viper" being purged from someone's body suggests that there has been some sort of betrayal, or a toxic force that needed to be removed. The idea of an "unsilent saint" and the call to "let in the words he is yet to speak" suggests that the singer is seeking guidance and inspiration from a figure who will help them lead the way forward. The lines "we must hold fast in truth / I know now we can make this through" express a sense of determination and optimism, despite the obstacles that lie ahead.
The repeated refrain of "prepare their hearts for the truth / messenger messenger" suggests that the singer sees themselves as a messenger, perhaps one who is tasked with sharing a difficult message that people may not want to hear. The line "for those sleeping need it the most" suggests that the message is one of awakening or enlightenment, and that there are those who are unaware of the truth and need to be woken up.
