The 6th Day
Flame Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We were made to know You, meant to behold You
And praise Your holy name
In your image You made us, represent our creator
On the sixth day

We were made to know You, meant to behold You
Praise Your holy name
It's the reason we were made
What a good day

Whatchu livin' for, do you know who you are
Do you know you fell, can you tell by how far
Who told you your purpose, why do you exist
Why do you prefer doin' that over this

If you are a man, do you know your role
And if so, who taught it to you, told you to go
And to you baby girl, the question is the same
Do you know your role, are you in your lane

Man, I remember as a kid, watchin' everything they did
Tryin to learn who I is
How to dress, how to walk, how to walk a lot of shame
Made me wanna sell dope, made me wanna join a gang
Would've never understood that we, who are this way
The crown of creation invited to display
And represent the image of his face
Through certain attributes, the night of the sixth day
Wow

[Chorus]
We were made to know You, meant to behold You
And praise Your holy name
In your image You made us, represent our creator
On the sixth day

We were made to know You, meant to behold You
Praise Your holy name
It's the reason we were made
What a good day

Did you know God, in His Independence
Is self-sufficient, He chose to make us in his image
And I ain't talking height, weight, facial features
I'm talking characteristics in common with his creatures
He didn't need us, he wasn't lonely
Trinitarian fellowship with his one and onlys
Do you know homie, what it really means
To be the devine image, family we human beings
See Genisis 1, verse 26 through 28 establishes who we is
Or who we are, or what we are
And where we were, and how far
Away we gotten from a day in the garden
The climax of creation but ended up falling
Greater than birds and beasts but we ended up crawlin
And now our viceroys are in need of a pardon

[Chorus]

We were made to know You, meant to behold You
Praise Your holy name

It's the reason we were made
What a good day

Overall Meaning

Flame's song "The 6th Day" is a contemplative reflection on the purpose of human existence, as well as a reminder of humanity's divine origins. The lyrics pose a series of introspective questions, challenging the listener to consider their role in the world and whether they are living up to their potential. The opening lines assert that human beings were "made to know" and "meant to behold" God, reflecting a belief that humanity was created to be in a relationship with their divine creator. As the song continues, Flame asks the listener to consider their purpose and identity, querying whether they truly understand what they were made for and whether they are living up to their calling.

Throughout the song, Flame emphasizes the importance of recognizing oneself as created in the image of God. The lyrics urge listeners to understand that this divine image is not merely a physical resemblance, but a set of "characteristics in common with his creatures." Flame asserts that this likeness to God imbues human beings with a unique purpose and calling, and reminds listeners that God's intention for humanity was that they should "represent our creator" and display the "image of his face" through their actions and attributes.

Overall, "The 6th Day" is a thoughtful meditation on the nature of humanity and the purpose of life, calling on listeners to reflect on their identity and recognize their divine calling.

Line by Line Meaning

We were made to know You, meant to behold You And praise Your holy name In your image You made us, represent our creator On the sixth day
It's the reason we exist: to know and praise God. We were created in His image, to represent Him to the world. This all happened on the sixth day of creation.

Whatchu livin' for, do you know who you are Do you know you fell, can you tell by how far Who told you your purpose, why do you exist Why do you prefer doin' that over this
You need to know your purpose in life and who you are. Do you realize how far you've fallen? Who told you what your purpose is and why you're here? Why do you prefer one thing over another?

If you are a man, do you know your role And if so, who taught it to you, told you to go And to you baby girl, the question is the same Do you know your role, are you in your lane
Men should know their life's purpose and role. Who taught you, and where did you hear it from? Women, the same goes for you. Are you fulfilling your role in life and staying true to your path?

Man, I remember as a kid, watchin' everything they did Tryin to learn who I is How to dress, how to walk, how to walk a lot of shame Made me wanna sell dope, made me wanna join a gang Would've never understood that we, who are this way The crown of creation invited to display And represent the image of his face Through certain attributes, the night of the sixth day Wow
As a child, I looked up to others to figure out who I was. I followed trends that would've led me down a path of shame, drugs or violence. But now I understand that we are something greater: the crown of creation. We were made to represent God and display His image through our unique attributes, created on the sixth day of creation

Did you know God, in His Independence Is self-sufficient, He chose to make us in his image And I ain't talking height, weight, facial features I'm talking characteristics in common with his creatures He didn't need us, he wasn't lonely Trinitarian fellowship with his one and onlys Do you know homie, what it really means To be the devine image, family we human beings See Genisis 1, verse 26 through 28 establishes who we is Or who we are, or what we are And where we were, and how far Away we gotten from a day in the garden The climax of creation but ended up falling Greater than birds and beasts but we ended up crawlin And now our viceroys are in need of a pardon
God, who is self-sufficient and independent, did not create us because He needed us. He made us in His image, giving us characteristics that are similar to His other creatures. We humans have gotten far away from the divine image we were meant to represent. We were created as the climax of creation, but sinned and fell from grace. Now, we need God's pardon to restore our place as His viceroys.

We were made to know You, meant to behold You Praise Your holy name It's the reason we were made What a good day
Our sole purpose is to know and praise God. This is why we were created. What a great day that was!
