I lived in St. Louis during my formative years

It was nothing
The hardships of my upbringing were normal for me

I was accustomed to see one go
Witnessing violence was routine for me

In that high rise building on that 14th floor
The violence often took place in my own building

With them broke elevators
The rundown condition of the building further compounded our difficulties

Man that thing ran slow
The broken elevators were often slow and unreliable

Mom and Pops at the crib told me bless my plate
My parents taught me to be grateful for what we had, even if it was meager

That government cheese for dinner we on Section 8
We relied on government assistance, such as Section 8 housing and food stamps

Plus it's hard Mom sick Daddy come home late
My mother was often unwell and my father had to work long hours

In them streets past 3 trying to chase that weight
My father often worked late into the night, likely engaged in illegal activities to support our family

Moms due in and out of the hospital
My mother's poor health resulted in frequent hospital visits

I'm listening to shots riddle
Gunshots were a common occurrence in my neighborhood

All this while I's little
I experienced all of this when I was still a child

I'm thinking back, I'm thinking back this is weak and wack
Looking back, I realize how difficult and unfair my childhood was

Like objects they stick us all in these projects, yes
People like me are often confined to living in low-income housing projects

More or less think this the way it is
I used to believe that my situation was just how things were meant to be

That God made us and God placed me in brown skin
I now understand that my physical appearance was God's plan for me

Around sin
Growing up in a rough environment influenced my spirituality

My grade school ain't get government aid
My grade school did not receive financial assistance from the government

A young ages feel like that we got government played but...
As a young person, I felt like the government was not doing enough to help people like me

He placed me right here
God intentionally placed me in my current situation

Have you ever considered where you were born and where you live?

(Some born in the suburbs, some in the trap)
People are born into a variety of circumstances, both good and bad

(Consider your race, your city and state)
Think about how your ethnicity and place of residence has influenced your life

(Your third world or US of A)
Whether you were born in a developing or developed country can impact your opportunities

(By God's design, you were placed in time and space)
God intentionally placed you on this earth at this specific time and location

(Before the day of your birth)
God decided where you would be born before you were even conceived

(God decided where He wanted you to stay on this earth)
God's plan for your life includes where you are currently located

God established the boundaries of your habitat
God determined where you would grow up and live

Ain't no accident if you were born listening to rap
Your upbringing and environment can influence your musical preferences

Ain't no accident if God made you white or black (nope)
Your ethnicity is an intentional aspect of God's plan for you

In America, South Africa or Iraq
Your place of birth is an intentional part of God's plan for you

Ain't no coincidence if you were born with riches
Your economic status is part of God's plan for you

Or in poverty obviously God has his intentions
Even if you were born into poverty, God has a purpose for it

See He made all nations and He know they situation
God is aware of all the diverse situations and struggles of people around the world

Ain't no accident you were packed in this generation
God intentionally placed you in this time period

And your situation should get you chasing His plan
Your unique situation should motivate you to seek God's plan for your life

To get you groping and seeking just to see what He saying
You should work to seek and understand God's message for your life

See God ain't far away
God is readily accessible to you

And He ain't hard to find
Finding God is a matter of seeking Him intentionally

But the Father's the farthest person away from our mind
We often prioritize other things over cultivating a relationship with God

And when you want to complain
When you feel like complaining about your situation

Think a couple of things
Consider a few things first

Why you in my head
Why is God prompting me to consider my situation?

And what is it that Jesus is saying
What message is Jesus trying to convey to me?

Then read the Bible and God'll guide you right into change
The Bible will provide guidance and direction for your life

The time is now, now
There is no better time than the present to seek God's plan for your life

Just turn around and lift up your hands
Open your heart and lift your spirit to God

Why am I where I am? Good question.
Why am I in my current situation? It's a valid inquiry

Why am I this race?
Why was I born with this particular ethnicity?

Why am I this age?
Why was I born during this specific time period?

But see God put you right where He saw fit
God placed you in the perfect situation for His plan for you

At the time He wanted to
God's timing is always intentional

At the year He saw was best for you
God knows the perfect time period for you to exist in

See He put you in the right situations
God places you in specific situations to further His plan for your life

That you might feel your way towards Him
Your unique experiences can help you develop a relationship with God

To find Him
Through your experiences, you can ultimately find God

Though He is not far from each one of us
God is always close and accessible, no matter our circumstances
