Angs Aanval
Fokofpolisiekar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hoe lank voor ons hier kan wegkom?
Hoe anders is n
Hoeveel anders is n ander plek?
Ons het dan dieselfde siekte
Ek heroorweeg die rol wat ek
in hierdie spel moet speel
van ons middelmatigheid
Die pynvolle aanvaarding
van ons onoorspronklikheid
Juig besmette asem uit
my moe longe uit
Verwerp die lewenslange stryd
vir n plekkie in jou koninkryk
Moenie so fokkin verveeld lyk nie
Ek dog jy sal bly wees om te hoor
My onselfsekerheid
het die beter van my gekry
Ek dog jy sou bly wees om te hoor
Jy ken nie die helfte daarvan nie
moenie maak asof jy beter
my beter kan verstaan nie
Jy ken nie die helfte daarvan nie
The lyrics of Angs Aanval by Fokofpolisiekar express a sense of uncertainty and anxiety about one's place in the world. The opening lines pose a question about how long it will take for them to escape their current situation, and how different things might be in another place. The singer reflects on their own role in their struggles and uncertainties, questioning the part they play in their own life.
As the song progresses, the chorus emphasizes the idea of mediocrity and acceptance of one's lack of originality. The line "Juig besmette asem uit" (Cheer infected breath out) alludes to the idea of conformity and the pressure to fit in with society's expectations. The singer then admits to their own insecurities, and acknowledges that they may not be fully understood by others.
Overall, the lyrics of Angs Aanval tap into the universal feeling of questioning one's place in the world and the pressure to conform to societal norms.
