Prior to the release of Foo Fighters' 1995 debut album Foo Fighters, which featured Grohl as the only official member, Grohl recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, both formerly of Sunny Day Real Estate, as well as Nirvana touring guitarist Pat Smear. The band began with performances in Portland, Oregon. Goldsmith quit during the recording of their second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997); most of the drum parts were re-recorded by Grohl. Smear departed soon afterward but appeared as a guest with the band frequently from 2005; he rejoined in 2010.
Smear and Goldsmith were replaced by Franz Stahl and Taylor Hawkins; Stahl was fired before the recording of the group's third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999). The band briefly continued as a trio until Chris Shiflett joined on guitar after the completion of There Is Nothing Left to Lose. Foo Fighters released their fourth album, One by One, in 2002. It was followed with the two-disc In Your Honor (2005), which was split between acoustic songs and heavier material. Foo Fighters released their sixth album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, in 2007.
For Foo Fighters' seventh studio album, Wasting Light (2011), produced by Butch Vig, Smear returned as a full member. Sonic Highways (2014) was released as the soundtrack to the television miniseries directed by Grohl. Concrete and Gold (2017) was the second Foo Fighters album to reach number one in the United States and their first studio album to feature longtime session and touring keyboardist Rami Jaffee as a full member. The band's tenth album, Medicine at Midnight (2021), was the last to feature Hawkins, who died in March 2022.
Produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, "But Here We Are" (the band's 11th) would release on June 2nd, 2023.
On May 21, 2023, some days before the album's release, Foo Fighters would officially announce that Josh Freese would be the new drummer.
Over the course of their career, Foo Fighters have won 15 Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album five times, making them among the most successful rock acts in Grammy history. In 2021, the band was announced as recipients of the first-ever "Global Icon" award at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, their first year of eligibility.

Resolve
Foo Fighters Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Swingin' from the chandeliers, hanging on your word
I remember watchin' you once upon a time
Dancing from across the room in another life
A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how
A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Lookin' back to find my way, never seemed so hard
Yesterday's belated rest, changing of the gods
I would never change a thing even if I could
All the songs we used to sing, everything was good
A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how
A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how
One more year that you're not here
It's gone and passed you by
Happened to you, happened to you
One more tear that you won't hear
That's gone and passed you by
Happened to you, happened to you
A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how
A little bit of resolve is what I need now
Pin me down, show me how
A little bit of resolve
One more year that you're not here
It's gone and passed you by (a little bit of resolve)
A little bit of resolve
One more year that you're not here
It's gone and passed you by (a little bit of resolve)
The lyrics of "Resolve" by Foo Fighters delve into the theme of finding a way to move on despite difficult circumstances. The song appears to be an introspective reflection on life experiences, both past and present. The opening verse talks about a feeling that the singer had at the moment, sometime in the past, where he felt trapped in a situation beyond his control. The second line describes it as "swinging from the chandeliers, hanging on your word," which could mean that he was looking to someone else for guidance or validation.
Moving on to the chorus, it seems like the singer is stuck in a difficult situation and needs a little push to move forward. He sings, "A little bit of resolve is what I need now, pin me down, show me how." The repetition of "a little bit of resolve" emphasizes the idea that the solution to his problem is not complicated, but he simply needs some help finding the strength and determination to take action.
The second verse continues this introspective reflection, with the singer looking back at his life and recognizing that his journey has not always been easy. Despite the struggles, he recognizes that there is value and beauty in the experiences he's had. The verse ends with the line "all the songs we used to sing, everything was good," which seems to suggest that he's reflecting nostalgically on a time when everything was simpler and more carefree.
Overall, "Resolve" is a song about finding the strength to move forward, even when things are difficult. The lyrics are introspective and reflective, with a message that even small acts of bravery and determination can make a big difference in one's life.
