Way Down Yonder in New Orleans
Frank Trumbauer and His Orchestra Lyrics

In the land of the dreamy scenes
There's a Garden of Eden
You know what I mean
Creole babies with flashin' eyes
Softly whisper their tender sighs then stop
Won't you give your lady fair a little smile?
We've got heaven right here on earth
With those beautiful queens
Way down yonder in New Orleans
You're gonna find heaven right here on earth
With all them beautiful queens
Way down yonder in New Orleans
I'm goin' down yonder to New Orleans
It's way down yonder in New Orleans
The lyrics of Frank Trumbauer and His Orchestra's song Way Down Yonder In New Orleans describe the atmosphere of the city, portraying it as a dreamlike, beautiful and full of life place. The first two lines alone suggest a place of wonder that seems almost imaginary. The mention of "a Garden of Eden" gives the impression of a place of paradise and beauty. The song continues to describe the inhabitants of New Orleans, suggesting they are just as enchanting as the city itself. The "Creole babies" with "flashin' eyes" are described as whispering "tender sighs," evoking a sense of romance and desire. The song then encourages the listener to enjoy the beauty and the people of New Orleans, asking them to "give your lady fair a little smile" and to "linger there a little while."
Overall, the song celebrates the allure and magic of New Orleans. It encapsulates the city's unique brand of culture, history, and charm, while also encouraging the listener to partake in and celebrate it. The use of the phrase "heaven right here on earth" suggests that the city itself is an otherworldly experience, and that there is no need to search for paradise elsewhere.

I love it that some of these old recordings have been cleaned up! Actually when you stop and think about it's quite remarkable they sound that good ..playing their instruments into big horn devices wired from the ceiling .
@shrinkprof
This was recorded electrically, not acoustically. No "big horn" involved.
