By the time he was 12 (1952), Avalon began making appearances on U.S. television for his trumpet prowess, and as a teenager, played with Bobby Rydell in a band known as Rocco and the Saints. In 1959, his songs "Venus" and "Why?" both went to number one on Billboard magazine's Hot 100. Indeed, "Why" was the last #1 hit of the 1950s.
During the 1960s, Avalon became known for his roles in the Beach Party film genre. Later, he became the U.S. national television spokesperson for Sonic Drive-In.
A Boy Without a Girl
Frankie Avalon Lyrics

Is a song without a tune
Is a year without a June
My love
A boy without a girl
Is a day without a night
Is a star without a light
And since you've come to me
All the world has come to shine
'Cause I've found a girl
Who's really mine
And if you stay with me
All your life you'll never be
A girl without a boy
My love
My love, my love
And since you've come to me
All the world has come to shine
'Cause I've found a girl
Who's really mine
And if you stay with me
All your life you'll never be
A girl without a boy
My love
My love, my love
My love, my love
The lyrics to Frankie Avalon's "A Boy Without A Girl" describe the emptiness and incompleteness one feels without love. Avalon compares a boy without a girl to a song without a tune, emphasizing that without love, life is monotone and lacks a sense of purpose. He then goes on to compare a boy without a girl to a day without a night and a star without a light, further emphasizing the contrast and incompleteness that one feels without love. However, upon finding the right person, one's world is transformed and filled with light and color. The song ends with the statement that if the couple stays together, they will never have to experience the loneliness and incompleteness of a girl without a boy or a boy without a girl.
Overall, the lyrics of "A Boy Without A Girl" convey a message about the transformative power of love. Without love, life can feel empty and purposeless, but with the right person by one's side, life can be filled with joy, and the world can feel like a brighter place.

Definitely superior teen pop this one - quite ahead of its time in its sound - could have been made decades later and not sounded out of place.

I first heard this song while I was working at a chocolate shop and immediately fell in love with it. I’m an aspiring musician who did my own arrangement of the song. If you get a chance please check my video out. I appreciate it!
