The band went through three different lead singers, Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional), Jason Gleason(Affinity, and later ActionReaction) and finally Jon Bunch (Sense Field). The final line-up:
Jonathan Bunch - Vocals (Sense Field)
Josh Colbert - Guitar
Chad Neptune - Bass Guitar (Strongarm)
Steve Kleisath - Drums (Strongarm, Shai Hulud, En Masse)
Derick Cordoba - Guitar.
FSF's releases in order are:

The Moon Is Down (2001)
Further Seems Forever / Twothirtyeight Split 7" (2002)
How to Start a Fire (2003)

The band also appeared on numerous compilation discs such as Emo Diaries Volume 4, Punk Goes Pop, A Santa Cause: Its a Punk Rock Christmas, and Rock Music: A Tribute to Weezer.
In late 2005, FSF went on a long hiatus. And in January 2006, the band posted a message on their website announcing that their shows in early 2006 through the United States and Canada would be their last as a band. During its existence, FSF gave more than a thousand performances. The individual band members proceeded to new jobs. There would be no new album project, but a compilation entitled Hope This Finds You Well was released by Tooth & Nail Records in April 2006. The band also indicated there would be a DVD release of videos and live performance scenes entitled "The Final Curtain". As of late 2010, it was announced the reunion of the band alongside the original singer, Chris Carrabba. Their fourth studio album, Penny Black, was released in 2012.
The name "Further Seems Forever" reflects the band's feelings, being constantly away from family and loved ones while on tour.
The Band Reunited and has planned a tour for 2011

Further Seems Forever Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
then i insist on pages of your lines meant for me,
to be sent to me.
Remember watching the storms from the lifeguard stand.
Remember feeling the tingling in my fingertips
when I touched your lips.
it always seemed that you'd always be on my side.
You're my best side.
And it's early June, so the sand's still dry,
and you have got the boldest eyes,
and I can't help but think it's right,
that inside you it's me I'll find.
And I'm still waiting.
And it's early June, so the sand's still dry,
and the storm off shore is not far behind.
And I'm still waiting.
And sometimes you don't say a thing for a long while.
And the ships off shore hold stories that we'd make.
And sometimes we are held at bay by these miles.
But less of you is more than I can take.
And the moments that we've shared could last a lifetime.
And the faith I have in us will keep you near.
And several of these miles placed in between us
mean several of these words being sent by mail.
I hope this letter finds you well.
The lyrics to Further Seems Forever's song "Pictures Of Shorelines" speak of a deep yearning for connection, a sense of nostalgia, and a desire to be close with someone despite physical distance. The opening lines present an interesting paradox - while the other person insists on pictures of shorelines, the singer insists on receiving pages of their lines meant for them. This showcases the inherent desire for more emotional connection rather than just mere physical experiences.
The following lines hint at the memories that the singer shared with their loved one - watching the storms from the lifeguard stand, touching their lips and remembering how they always sat on the same side. These memories bring back a sense of familiarity and fondness towards the other person, a feeling that they would always be on the same side. The chorus mentions the early days of June when the sand is still dry and the boldness in the other's eyes that makes the singer feel like it's right. The lyrics express the sentiment that the other person is a part of the singer and being with them makes them feel complete.
The second half of the song expresses the difficulties of maintaining a relationship amidst distance. Sometimes, they don't say anything for a long time and are held at bay by the miles between them. However, the moments they shared together could last a lifetime and the faith that the singer has in their relationship will keep the other person near. Nevertheless, several hundred miles create a void that can only be filled by letters and words sent through the mail.

and I recall how you sat on the same side of me
I remember how we always sat next to each other
it always seemed that you'd always be on my side, you're my best side.
It felt like you were always on my side, you're the one I can count on
and it's early June so the sand's still dry and you have got the boldest eyes

and the ships off shore hold stories that we'd make
The ships in the distance represent the adventures we could have together
and sometimes we are held at bay by these miles
Sometimes the distance separates us and prevents us from being together
but less of you is more than I can take.

2021? I've just discovered FSF not long ago and fell in love with this. Btw, happy 20th anniversary of the "The Moon Is Down" album. My favorite album from this band. Penny Black is good too though!

I remember being late to this band and realizing that I wouldn't feel the same things that people who were listening to them from the beginning felt.
That was in 2005.

and now it's 2021 and I'm almost 20 years late...

OMG, attben, I'm not sure who you are but THANK YOU. Its funny how the slightest sound can bring back a flood of memories. And with this album, you've unleashed a tempest. THANK YOU. And might I add, where has all the good music gone?

i think lyrically the interpolation of both piercing love lines and imagery-intense simile and metaphor push chris' lyrics in 'the moon is down' beyond anything he's written recently, putting it right up there with 'the swiss army romance' in terms of possibly the best albums of my late teens / early twenties.

I nearly shat myself when I bought this and discovered that FSF was basically Strongarm w/Chris Carabba. Amazing musicians. No matter what style music.
