G-Unit was founded shortly after 50 Cent left Columbia Records. The original members were: 50 Cent, Bang Em Smurf, Domination, Lloyd Banks, Sha Money XL & Tony Yayo. These rappers collectively established the group as a whole in 2000; however, after Yayo got a prison sentence 50 Cent signed Young Buck and along with himself and Banks became the three faces of G-Unit. Smurf and Domination left the group due to some problems with the General, 50 Cent.
After being shot, 50 Cent signed to Interscope Records. Due to the success of his commercial debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin', he was granted his own record label. This was when 50 and Sha Money XL founded G-Unit Records.
The group continued to work hard and released several mixtape series which earned them a lot of attention in the rap industry. The most prominent of these being 50 Cent Is the Future, God's Plan, No Mercy, No Fear and Automatic Gunfire. G-Unit have also started a mixtape series with their DJ, DJ Whoo Kid, called G-Unit Radio.
These mixtapes gave them a gigantic buzz throughout New York City, which eventually led to 50's first solo album Get Rich or Die Tryin' selling over 12 million copies.
Before the group had a chance to record its debut album, Tony Yayo was sentenced to prison for a gun-possession charge as well as bail-jumping. During Tony Yayo's prison sentence, the group signed Nashville rapper, Young Buck. They continued their activity, working on yet more mixtape recordings. In particular, their 'G-Unit Remix' to 50 Cent's "P.I.M.P." was successful.
During Tony Yayo's prison sentence, G-Unit recorded their debut album, Beg for Mercy. The album was quickly released on November 14, 2003 to combat bootlegging and had significant commercial success. Tony Yayo made only two appearances on the album, both on songs that were recorded before his arrest. The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts and sold over 4 million units.
50 Cent later went on to sign The Game, Mobb Deep, M.O.P., Olivia, Spider Loc andMase. The Game was asked to be put in the group by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. 50 Cent agreed, and gave 7 of his records which was supposed to go on his second LP The Massacre. After The Game went on the radio and said that he had no problems with some rappers 50 Cent had issues with, 50 felt that Game was disloyal and kicked him out of the group, which lead to the infamous G-Unit vs. The Game/Black Wallstreet meet and beat off.

You know Clue man, I'm tryin' to holler at this bitch right and I'm like
yeah, I told her I write music for a living
And she's like need I say yeah, my name is 50 Cent
And she said "oh you 50 Cent, you know I love your music
I listen to DJ Clue, I hear your music all the time"
And I'm like yeah, this bitch on my dick
I love this music shit, man, this shit is the shit right here, man
And I seen your boy Skane in that silver 745 boy
Man, ya'll playin' hardball like a motherfucker
See me I switch up hoopties cause niggaz play me, just to shoot me
You know how it is in the hood
Dead men don't hear no applause
Don't men don't go off on tours
Dead men don't accept no awards
50 that thought you was dead kid, kid
[ Chorus - 2X]
50, it's 50, it's 50, motherfucker
I'm back, I'm back, I'm back motherfucker
Niggaz thought they got me
9, 9 shells couldn't stop me
I "Hit 'Em Up" worse than Pac, watch me
[ Verse 1 ]
I don't hesitate to pull out the burnin' nigga
I stick my snub nose in shit, that don't concern a nigga
I'm the reason that Coupe, ain't got no top
I'm the reason that Rouger, ain't got no shots
And when I squeeze, I tend to keep on squeezin'
If your lucky, you can run, and keep on breathin' (yeah)
When my knife hit ya windpipe and you start wheezin' (huh)
You put your hand over the hole, and it gonna stop the breathin' (woo)
I am what I am, and I ain't gonna change
My 5th clip loaded to the tip, I'll blow out ya brains
Trust me, I'm not what you used to homie (grrr)
You little faggot, I'll tell ya fuckin' boss to blow me (uh huh)
I'm puttin' pressure on you, you payin' the pump (yeah)
About to die like a man, but you live like a chump (uh huh)
I only walk wit a limp, when I walk wit a pump
I can't wait to see you scatter, when I pull out and dunk ya (TAKE THAT)
[ Chorus ]
50, it's 50, it's 50, motherfucker (uh huh)
I'm back, I'm back, I'm back motherfucker (I'm back)
Niggaz thought they got me
9, 9 shells couldn't stop me
I "Hit 'Em Up" worse than Pac, watch me (do it up nigga)
50, it's 50, it's 50, motherfucker
I'm back, I'm back, I'm back motherfucker (uh huh)
Niggaz thought they got me
9, 9 shells couldn't stop me
I "Hit 'Em Up" worse than Pac, watch me
[ Outro - 50 Cent talking ]

The song "Clue Shit" is a typical gangsta rap song that talks about being tough, invincible and threatening the enemy. The lyrics describe how the rapper is not afraid to use guns and knives to get his way and how he is always prepared to attack his enemies. In the intro, 50 Cent talks about how he was trying to impress a girl by telling her that he writes music for a living, and then he reveals how he saw DJ Clue and his associates in their fancy cars. He asserts that they are playing hardball and that he has seen it all before, implying that he is not afraid of them. The chorus repeats the words "50, it's 50, it's 50, motherfucker" and "I'm back, I'm back, I'm back motherfucker" to emphasize that he is not dead, and despite being shot nine times, he is back and stronger than ever. The song ends with 50 Cent stating that this time, he is going to hit his enemies even harder, showing that he is ready for whatever comes his way.
