Ganga Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hello! carbon monoxide
The air, the air
Is everywhere
Breath deep, while you sleep
Breath deep
Save me, nicotine lung steam
Incense, incense
Is in the air
Breath deep, while you sleep
Breath deep
Cataclysmic ectoplasm
Fallout atomic orgasm
Vapor and fume
At the stone of my tomb
Breathing like a sullen perfume
Eating at the stone of my tomb
Welcome! sulphur dioxide
Hello! carbon monoxide
The air, the air
Is everywhere
Breath deep, while you sleep
Breath deep
Deep, deep, deep, cough cough
The lyrics to Ganga's song Chair convey a message about the pervasive presence of pollution in our environment. The opening lines of the song welcome two of the most harmful pollutants - sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide. The subsequent lyrics encourage listeners to breathe deeply, a seemingly paradoxical message considering the harmful nature of the pollutants mentioned earlier. But the underlying tone of the lyrics suggests that these pollutants are simply an inevitable part of our surroundings, and we must learn to live with them to a certain extent.
The lyrics also mention alcohol and nicotine, two substances that can have detrimental effects on our health when consumed excessively. The use of incense is another nod to the human propensity to use and release chemicals into the air. The profound lines about cataclysmic ectoplasm and atomic fallout suggest a more ominous message about the irreversible consequences of human actions that have led to environmental degradation.
Overall, the song is a poignant reminder of the need to be mindful of the impact our actions have on our surroundings. It highlights the importance of deep breathing and reflects on the inevitability of pollution in our lives while hinting at the devastating consequences of our collective ignorance.
