Don't Cry
Ganga Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
What is the matter anyway
Why don't you tell me what is wrong
Is it about the other day
No No I just wanna talk
Don't know why you wanna fight
No No
You know I'll always stand by you
No No
Don't say
That it's the reason why you cry
Suddenly everything has changed
There must be something we can do
Why don't we turn it upside down
You can be me and I'll be you
That seems like a good idea
Don't know why you disagree
No No
Don't cry
You know I'll always stand by you
No No
Don't say
That it's the reason why you cry
The song "Don't Cry" by Ganga is an emotionally evocative track that depicts concern over someone who seems troubled. The narration of this song is directed towards a person who appears depressed, with the singer wanting to know what is causing their sadness. The opening line of "I hate to see you all depressed" creates the impression that the singer has a deep connection and empathy for the other person's struggle. The song's theme revolves around the idea that no matter what is going on, there's always a solution, and everything can be turned around. This message is clearly expressed when the singer suggests that they switch roles, as in "Why don't we turn it upside down? You can be me and I'll be you."
The chorus of "No No, Don't Cry" is repeated throughout the song and reassures the listener that the singer will always stand by them, no matter what. It's like a comforting hug from a good friend, encouraging them not to give up hope. The other person is encouraged to open up and share their feelings so that they can find a way to work through their problems together. The overall message of the song is that it's important to have someone to rely on when we're feeling low, and that even the darkest days can be overcome with a bit of support.
