Growing up in Florida, Whitney was originally a guitar player for hardcore and doom metal bands.[3] Whitney moved to Los Angeles, California after starting his career as a rapper eventually finding success in the underground.
Eric Whitney was born 15 April 1991 in Lake Worth, Florida to parents from New York. Whitney grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. As a teenager, he was in several bands and played the guitar which introduced him to music. He also played football whilst in High School, saying he was practically forced to by his father, who died when Whitney was seventeen.
Whitney was introduced to rap music when he was the guitarist in the hardcore punk band Nemesis and a bandmate introduced him to Memphis rap.
Whitney graduated from university after studying astrophysics and was eventually employed in a position earning $65,000 annually. In 2015, Whitney moved to Los Angeles, California due to his music not thriving in Southern Florida, giving up his employment at the same time. Meeting up with JGRXXN, Whitney joined his collective Schemaposse which included artists such as the now-deceased Lil Peep and Craig Xen.
In April 2016, Schemaposse disbanded leaving Whitney not associated with any group. Whitney eventually began to associate with the popular underground group $uicideboy$ and fellow Florida rapper Pouya. Pouya released the video for "1000 Rounds" with Ghostemane in April 2017.The video quickly went viral and as of May 2018, has nearly 9 million views.
In 2018 Whitney released his 10th album, "N / O / I / S / E" (No One Is Safe from Evil). The album has a very dark and aggressive style and it deals a lot with self-harm, self-mutilation, agoraphobia, and many other issues Ghostemane has dealt with personally. N / O / I / S / E was released by surprise on 10th October 2018, as it was supposed to drop on 17th October of the same year.

What am I?
I'm divine but I'm minimized
Minimized to a finite mind but abide when I shine a little light on your eyes
I am the one you attack when you wanna die cuz you hate your life
You wanna beef but I don't have time
Me and my chick gonna take your bitch in Sexual Sacrifice
The E the P
Rockin' Adidas but they never clean
Act like you know me but you see
I don't agree
I am the G to the O
The A the T
I'm on my way to hell
I am nothing, I am nothing
I am too woke to worry yes I am too woke to care
I spend my time finding enlightenment through a broken mirror
I'm everything, I'm everything
Pentacles all around me I let go of all my fear now my bitch is a witch in leather who whispers in my ears
La la la
Singing alone
Cuz I know
Nobody know me like I know the taste of
The barrel of my .22
Somebody walk
In on me now
Before I let it go
La la la
Singing alone
Cuz I know
Nobody know me like I know the taste of
The barrel of my .22
Somebody walk
In on me now
Before I let it go
Everybody told you to avoid me like the plague
I don't wanna die on Earth, I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die on Earth
We're bumping Number 12 in the moonlight thinking that I might just stay (that I might just stay)
But I don't wanna die on Earth, I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die on Earth
In Ghostemane's song "Axis," the artist delves into his own identity and the way he is perceived by others. He starts off by introducing the listener to his mind and questioning his own worth, acknowledging that he is divine but often overlooked. He shines some light on people's eyes to show them what he is truly capable of, but he is often attacked by those who hate their own lives. Ghostemane then asserts that he doesn't have time for petty beefs and is more interested in taking someone's partner in sexual sacrifice.
The chorus then shifts to a more introspective tone, where Ghostemane expresses how woke and enlightened he is. He finds enlightenment despite having a broken mirror, indicating that he is not perfect, but he looks within himself to find answers. He goes on to say that he is everything and has conquered his fear, and now he is with his partner, who is a witch in leather, whispering in his ear.
In the final chorus, Ghostemane sings about the people who have advised others to avoid him and how he doesn't want to die on Earth. He is enjoying the moment, bumping music under the moonlight, and contemplating staying. However, his ultimate desire is to not die on Earth, indicating that he may seek a higher plane of existence. Overall, "Axis" is a song about self-discovery and self-acceptance while defying the society's predefined norms.
