1) - Girl was an English glam rock band. Their lead vocalist was Phil Lewis, who later sang for L.A. Guns, New Torpedoes, Tormé, Filthy Lucre, The Liberators, and several other bands. Phil Collen, who later joined Def Leppard, and had previously been in the bands Lucy, Tush, and Dumb Blondes, was one of Girl's guitarists, except for a brief time near the end of Girl's career. Gerry Laffy was the other guitarist in the band.
Girl recorded several studio albums including Sheer Greed, Wasted Youth, and Killing Time. Sheer Greed is also the name of a band Gerry Laffy, Simon Laffy, and Pete Barnacle played in, and Phil Lewis and Phil Collen guested with, after Girl. Gerry Laffy's brother Simon Laffy was Girl's bassist on their albums, though Mark Megary played for the band briefly before then. According to Simon Laffy, Mark Megary played on a single version of "My Number". Girl went through several drummers, including Dave Gaynor, Pete Barnacle, and Bryson Graham. Despite being equally adored and despised at the time Girl still has 6 albums available through Sanctuary Records (previously released by Don Arden's Jet Records). Sheer Greed, Wasted Youth, Killing Time, Live At The Marquee, Live At The Exposition Hall, Osaka, Japan, 50 track anthology My Number: The Anthology...

Gerry Laffy, Simon Laffy, and Pete Barnacle's post-Girl band Sheer Greed, who Phil Lewis and Phil Collen also guested with, also recorded two versions of "Hollywood Tease", one on Sublime To The Ridiculous and one on Live In London.
Pete Bonus replaced Phil Collen in Girl, though the band broke up soon after.
Former Girl bandmates Phil Collen and Simon Laffy are currently in a band called Man-Raze, though Phil Collen is still also in Def Leppard.

Sings the streets a serenade
Now he's laying everybody low
He's got a love song that he made
He finds a streetlight
And he steps out of the shade
And says something like
"you and me, babe, how about it?"
Juliet says "hey, it's romeo!"
"you nearly give me a heart attack!"
Yeah well, he's underneath the window
Now she's singing "hey-la, my boyfriend's back"
"you shouldn't come around here
Singing up at people like that
Ah anyway, whatcha gonna do about it?"
Juliet
The dice were loaded from the start
And I bet and you exploded into my heart
And I forget, I forget the movie song
When you gonna realize
It was just that the time was wrong
Julie
We both come up on different streets
And they both were streets of shame
You know they're both dirty both mean
Yes and the dreams were the same
And I dreamed your dream for you
And now your dream is real
So tell me honey
Now how can you look at me
As if I was just another one of your deals
Now you can fall for chains of silver
And you can fall for chains of gold
You know you fall for pretty strangers
And the promises they hold
Well you promised me everything
And then you promised me thick and thin
Now you just turn away and say
"romeo, I think I used to have a scene with him."
Ah juliet
When we made love you used to cry
You said "I love you like the stars above
Gonna love you till I die"
There's a place for us
I you know this song
Now when you gonna realize
It was just that the time was wrong
Julie
But I can't do the talks like they talk on my tv screen
I can't do a love song not the way you song them to me
I can't do everything but I would do anything for you
Oh no I can't do anything except be in love with you
Yeah now and all I do is miss you
And the way it used to be you know
And all I do is keep the beat
I keep bad, bad company
And all I do is kiss you
Through the bars of a rhyme
When julie I'd do the stars with you
Anytime
Ah juliet
When we made love you used to cry
You said "I love you like the stars above
I'm gonna love you till I die"
There's a place for us
I know you know the movie song
One day we're gonna realize
It was just that the time was wrong
Julie

Now this love struck romeo
He sings the streets a serenade
Now he's laying everybody low
He's got a love song he made
He finds a convenient streetlight
And he'll step out of the shade

"you and me, babe, how 'bout it?
The song "Juliet" by Girl tells the story of a love-struck Romeo singing a serenade on the streets below the window of his beloved, Juliet. She is initially startled by his sudden appearance but eventually joins in with the singing, acknowledging him as her boyfriend. The song expounds on the themes of love, identity, and fate. The chorus uses a reference to the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet, indicating that there was always an element of predetermined destiny at play in their relationship. Juliet acknowledges the many promises made by Romeo but wonders if he is capable of keeping them all. The lyrics also suggest that, despite coming from different backgrounds, they nevertheless shared common dreams.
The song is notable for its use of multiple references to the story of Romeo and Juliet, such as the characters' names, the mention of "dice loaded from the start," and the chorus's reference to "a place for us, a time and place." The use of these allusions reflects the themes of the song. According to the singer, the song was inspired by her personal experience of witnessing romance on the streets and her interest in the Romeo and Juliet story. The song was originally written and performed by English rock band Dire Straits, but Girl's cover interpretation was commercially successful in Europe, especially in the Netherlands.
