My Town
Glass Tiger Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Lead me home to my town
Tell me when that breeze is blowin'
Takin' me home to my town
When I think of you, Scotia
There's a love that just bleeds in my heart
In my childhood days, we went our different ways
Now I'm all alone
And your calling me home
You knew our love could never die
And though my roaming eyes always lead me astray
Well I'm coming back home
Scotia, don't walk away
Bring the wind to carry me over
Lead me home to my town
Tell me when that breeze is blowin'
Takin' me home to my town
So when I think of you, Scotia
There's a magic that fills the air
We're the downtown boys
Making all that noise
Oh, we live like we just don't care
So we drank our fill
For king and country
Yeah, 'til the last soldier fell
Berlington Bertie, you're in my heart forever
I want to drown in the stories you tell
Bring the wind to carry me over
Lead me home to my town
Tell me when that breeze is blowin'
Takin' me home to my town
Oh, to my town
You made me all
I can't ever be
If I should fall
Your love will rescue me
Bring the wind to carry me over
Lead me home to my town
Tell me when that breeze is blowin'
Takin' me home to my town
Bring the wind to carry me over (carry me over)
Lead me home to my town (to my town)
Tell me when that breeze is blowin'
Takin' me home to my town
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Carry me over
Lead me home to my town (to my town)
Tell me when that breeze is blowin'
Takin' me home to my town
Bring the wind to carry me over
Lead me home to my town (to my town)
Tell me when that breeze is blowin'
Takin' me home to my town
The lyrics to Glass Tiger's song "My Town" describe the singer's longing to return home to his town of Scotia. The opening line, "Bring the wind to carry me over," suggests the singer's desire to leave his current location and return to the place he considers his true home. The repetition of the phrase "lead me home to my town" reinforces this idea of longing and the search for belonging.
The second stanza describes the singer's deep emotional connection to Scotia, referencing a "love that just bleeds in my heart." Despite going their separate ways in childhood, the singer knows he and Scotia will "never part." The lyrics are filled with nostalgia and a sense of longing for the carefree days of youth spent in Scotia with the "downtown boys" who "live like we just don't care." The reference to "drinking our fill for king and country" evokes a strong sense of patriotism and camaraderie among the friends.
As the song progresses, the singer acknowledges the inevitability of life's twists and turns, referencing "roaming eyes" that lead him astray. Despite this, the pull of Scotia remains strong and the singer declares his intention to return home, saying "I'm coming back home, Scotia, don't walk away." The chorus is repeated several times as if to emphasize this desire.
Overall, "My Town" is a nostalgic ode to home and the deep connections we form to the places and people who shaped us in our youth.
