Goldenhorse's debut album Riverhead was released in October 2002. Over the following 18 months, various singles from the album started to be played on the radio and the band played live throughout New Zealand. Sales of the record climbed slowly then steadily and in August 2004 the album reached no.1 on the NZ national charts.
"Out of the Moon" was released in 2005. "Reporter" was released in 2007.
The band has not said it has split; the time-out is described as a hiatus with Morrell releasing a solo album in 2010 and King debuting Grand Rapids in 2011.

Four Minute Drive
Goldenhorse Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Run out of time like any other
Stupid arrived his face all hung that way
Been talking to mum, she doesn't listen
Whaa! is all, is all you say
Why can't you shut up?
I don't care about your fate
Stuck in the mud, you slow me down again
Been reading the lines, I stand between them
Ball in a park is all I am today
Four minute drive, I need to get away
It's all, It's all you say
Why can't you shut up?
I don't care about your, about your
Leave you all just standing there
On your own shaky ground
On your own rocks of sand
Believe me when I say to you
I'm not taking that
No I'm not taking that
Four minute drive, is all we had that day
Run out of time like any other
The song “Four Minute Drive” by Goldenhorse is a story of frustration and the desire to escape from a situation that has become too much. The opening line sets the scene - a journey that can be completed in just four minutes. This journey represents a metaphor for a relationship or a difficult situation that needs to be left behind. The song speaks to the feeling of being stuck in an unfulfilling situation, where you are held back by someone or something else. The verse “Stuck in the mud, you slow me down again, Been reading the lines, I stand between them” conveys this feeling of being trapped and the frustration of trying to move forward but being prevented from doing so.
The chorus of the song is a repetition of the phrase “It's all, It's all you say, Why can't you shut up? I don't care about your, about your fate.” In this refrain, the singer is expressing their annoyance with someone who can't seem to stop talking about themselves and their problems. The singer is trying to break free from this situation and is no longer interested in listening to this person's problems. The bridge of the song provides a final statement of independence, where the singer leaves those around them standing on their own “shaky ground” and declares that they will no longer take on the stress and burden of others.
