Great trade good trade
I'm no sucker
Just to satisfy the fucker
You met its music to dream
What do you think about me?
Some special worship among us
Big deal good trade
Great trade good trade
I'm no sucker
Just to satisfy the fucker
You met its music to dream
What do you think about me?
Some special worship among us
Worship phenomena
Big deal good trade
Great trade good trade
I'm no sucker
Just to satisfy the fucker
Big deal good trade
Great trade good trade
I'm no sucker
aaaaaaaaaahhhhh
Big deal good trade
Great trade good trade
I'm no sucker
Just to satisfy the fucker
The lyrics to Grandaddy's song "Worship P" appear to be about the power dynamics that exist within the music industry. The repeated refrain of "Big deal good trade, Great trade good trade" suggests that the singer is making some sort of deal or negotiation, likely with someone they perceive to have more power than themselves. The line "I'm no sucker just to satisfy the fucker" emphasizes the singer's unwillingness to be taken advantage of or manipulated for the benefit of someone else.
The verses add more complexity to this interpretation. The line "You met its music to dream, what do you think about me?" suggests that the singer is an artist and that they are being evaluated by someone else based on their music. The idea of "some special worship among us, Worship phenomena" suggests that there is an almost religious fervor surrounding certain aspects of the music industry - perhaps the idea of success, fame, or creative brilliance. Overall, the lyrics seem to be grappling with the way that power dynamics can shape the way we interact with art and with each other, and the inherent tension that can arise from these imbalances.
