1) In 2001, Daniel Myer (Haujobb/Clear Vision/Architect) and Victoria Lloyd (Claire Voyant/Monochrome), as HMB set out to create a new boundary for experimentation. Fusing elements of EBM, techno and trance with the elegant vocal styling of Victoria along with the distinctive programming and arrangements of Daniel has made their debut album Great Industrial Love Affairs a beautifully crafted masterpiece. Frequent Haujobb and Scope collaborator Vanessa Briggs and Dennis Ostermann of In Strict Confidence make appearances as guest vocalists. Sei onde vou sei onde vou
Não estás seguro em cima do muro
Tu sempre podes cair seja a chuva ou o vento
Ou a corja que espera que fiques sem alento
Não adormeças, junta as tuas peças
Sei o que podes achar sem plenas convicções
Oh, oh sei onde vou
Oh, oh e também quero que saibas
Oh, oh sei onde vou
P'ra Canaã
De pés descalços ou de muletas
Não é coisa pouca, a vida faz caretas
Cinge o pulso, até me estraga a veia
Quem colhe o bem é porque também o semeia
Hoje vês o escuro, amanhã o Sol
Sei o que podes achar
Quem não souber intenções falece em ilusões
Oh, oh sei onde vou
Oh, oh e também quero que saibas
Oh, oh sei onde vou
P'ra Canaã
Oh, oh sei onde vou
Oh, oh e também quero que saibas
Oh, oh sei onde vou
P'ra Canaã oh, oh (eu, eu)
Sei onde vou (eu sei onde vou) oh, oh
E também quero que saibas oh, oh
Sei onde vou pra Canaã (oh, p'ra Canaã)
The lyrics of HMB's song "Sei Onde Vou" convey a sense of self-assurance and determination in facing uncertainties and challenges. The repeated phrases "HMB na área" and "Sei onde vou" establish a strong and confident presence, suggesting that the singer knows their path and destination. The opening lines caution against being indecisive or neutral, warning that remaining on the fence can lead to potential pitfalls. The imagery of falling due to rain, wind, or the malicious intent of others conveys a sense of vulnerability and the need to stay alert and resilient in the face of adversity.
The lyrics also touch upon the theme of personal growth and perseverance, emphasizing the importance of staying grounded and navigating life's ups and downs. The references to walking barefoot or with crutches symbolize the varied challenges and unpredictability of life, highlighting that every experience shapes and tests us. The line "Cinge o pulso, até me estraga a veia" suggests a determination to withstand difficulties and continue forward despite obstacles. The idea that reaping good outcomes requires sowing positivity and effort underscores the message of personal agency and responsibility in shaping one's own path.
The mention of "seeds" alludes to the concept of reaping what one sows, implying that one's actions and intentions have consequences that manifest in the future. The contrast between darkness and sunlight symbolizes the cyclical nature of life, with the singer acknowledging the temporary nature of challenges and the promise of brighter days ahead. The lyrics urge listeners to stay mindful of their intentions and not to fall prey to illusions or false beliefs, emphasizing the importance of clarity and self-awareness in pursuing one's goals.
The repeated chorus of "Oh, oh sei onde vou, P'ra Canaã" reinforces the sense of certainty and purpose in the singer's journey towards Canaan, a symbolic place of promise and fulfillment. The affirmation "Eu sei onde vou" further asserts the singer's confidence in their path, while the desire for others to know as well suggests a wish to inspire and share their sense of direction. Overall, "Sei Onde Vou" conveys a message of resilience, self-discovery, and staying true to one's convictions in the face of challenges, ultimately aiming for a place of peace and prosperity.
