Few more years to go,
Don′t let the hurdle fall
So be the girl you loved,
Be the girl you loved
I'll wait, so show me why you're strong
We′re alone now
I′ll wait, so show me why you're strong
Ignore everybody else,
We′re alone now
Suddenly I'm hip
Is this darkness of the dawn
And your friends are gone
When you friends won′t come
So show me where you fit
So show me where you fit
I'll wait, so show me why you′re strong
Ignore everybody else,
We're alone now
We're alone now
We′re alone now
I′ll wait
Suddenly I'm hip
Is this darkness of the dawn
And your friends are gone
When you friends won′t come
So show me where you fit
So show me where you fit
The lyrics to Hardwell's song Retrograde present a message of empowerment and self-discovery to the listener. The opening lines, "You're on your own, in a world you've grown, few more years to go. Don't let the hurdle fall. So be the girl you loved, be the girl you loved," suggest that the listener may be facing obstacles or challenges in life, but should not give up or let them get in the way of becoming the person they truly want to be.
The chorus, "I'll wait, so show me why you're strong. Ignore everybody else, we're alone now," encourages the listener to ignore the opinions of others and focus on their own strength and resilience. The repetition of "we're alone now" emphasizes the importance of individuality and self-reliance.
The second verse, "Suddenly I'm hip, is this darkness of the dawn, and your friends are gone. When your friends won't come, so show me where you fit," suggests a moment of self-awareness and questioning of one's place in the world. The listener may be experiencing a sense of isolation or loneliness, but the song encourages them to use this opportunity to discover where they truly fit in and be true to themselves.
Overall, Retrograde by Hardwell delivers a message of empowerment and individuality, encouraging the listener to ignore external opinions and embrace their own strength and self-discovery.
