I'll tell you no lie
How deep is the ocean?
How high is the sky?
How many times a day do I think of you?
How many roses are sprinkled with dew?
To be where you are?
How far is the journey
From here to a star?
And if I ever lost you, how much would I cry?
How deep is the ocean?
How high is the sky?
How far would I travel
To be where you are?
How far is the journey
From here to a star?
And if I ever lost you, how much would I cry?
How deep is the ocean?
How high is the sky?
How high is the sky?
In Harry 'Sweets' Edison's song How Deep Is the Ocean, the lyrics explore the depth of love and the intensity of emotions that come with it. The first two lines of the song talk about how much the singer loves their partner and how they would never lie about it. The following lines pose a series of questions that try to convey the extent of their love. The singer wonders how deep the ocean is and how high the sky is, implying that their love for their partner is as deep and boundless as these natural wonders.
The following lines continue to emphasize the depth of the singer's love. They ask how many times a day they think of their partner and how many roses are sprinkled with dew, highlighting the constant presence of their love and how it permeates every aspect of their life. The singer then asks how far they would travel to be with their partner and how far the journey to a star is, intending to convey that distance is no obstacle when it comes to their love.
The song concludes with the singer expressing their fear of losing their partner and how devastating it would be. The repetition of the refrain "How deep is the ocean? How high is the sky?" is used to convey the depth of their love and how it dwarfs the natural elements that are considered vast and endless.
Overall, the song is a beautiful tribute to the depth and intensity of love, and how it can transcend distance and time.
