This is my FAVOURITE song and scene in this movie. I love the intensity in the scene, you can feel Sweeny fighting to control the urge to murder the judge under all the gentle singing. The musical arrangement was so unique and beautiful. And what an impressive harmony from Mr. Rickman and Johnny Depp. Again, brilliant movie. I remember the first time I watched this movie, I played the soundtrack every day for a month straight! Tim Burton is a genius!

I still remember watching the whole Behind the Scenes for this movie talking about how Johnny and Alan were always belting out the lyrics while shooting. They didn't have to..... the vocals for the musical bits were all pre-recorded as well..... but the two had so much fun doing it they couldn't help themselves I guess.

RIP Alan Rickman. One of many, MANY astonishing actors of recent years gone way too soon.

A large part of that is a lack of Helena Bonham Carter's snooze-inducing performance, but it also creates such a beautiful contrast to the subtext of what the characters are saying and planning. As a film lover, it's a delight. As a Thespian, it's a masterpiece.

I am aware of the mechanics involved in singing. I was in choir for 6 years. Yes, he's not the best, but it's a lot better than you can expect from the auto-tuned crap we get a lot today. I never expected him to be a good singer, and thus, he exceeded my expectations. Yes, I've heard better, but I've heard worse; a LOT worse. And he's not horrible. He doesn't make your ears bleed. And I feel his style of singing fit his character.

Sheesh, I love this scene. Especially when 2:57 comes. The music goes mellow with the string instruments softly playing, the gray sky emphasizing the calm mood, and Sweeney swaying and singing to the music. It sometimes makes me completely forget Sweeney is about to murder him. xD
