The band is notably influenced both by 90s post-grunge as well as by 80s dirty hard rock and glam metal, with several critics noting their debt to Guns n' Roses. Cut to almost five years later after Winkler met the guys, and Hinder built a healthy regional following. They released an independent album, titled 'Far From Close', which sold out several thousands of copies. The band was the object of an honest-to-goodness bidding war between three different major labels that resulted in its major label debut, titled 'Extreme Behavior', coming out to much commercial success in 2005.
True to the group's origins in Austin Winkler's cover band, Hinder has released several covers of songs that have inspired the band. Examples include "Bed of Roses" (by Bon Jovi), "Born to be Wild" (by Steppenwolf), "Take Me Home Tonight" (by Eddie Money), and "Thunderstruck" (by AC/DC). Their debut album included the huge hit (and perhaps their best known original song) "Lips Of An Angel", and said album has been triple-platinum certified by the RIAA.
Although receiving mixed to negative critical reviews for 'Extreme Behavior', setting up a pattern for them as being critical whipping boys, "Lips of an Angel" was a rock smash. It topped both the Top 40 Pop Radio Chart and the Digital Download Chart, also putting the group on the top of multiple radio, video and digital charts including Yahoo, iTunes, and MSN. Facing near impossible expectations put on them, with rambunctious live performances stoking the flames, Hinder's sophomore album, 'Take It To The Limit', proved somewhat of a commercial disappointment by comparison. However, the group still moved hundreds of thousands of records and featured a strong glam metal-esque sound that many fans loved.
The band was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2007. After the release of 'Take It To The Limit' in 2008 and 'All American Nightmare' in 2010, though, issues between frontman Winkler and the rest of the band had taken their toll. Finally, on November 20, 2013, it was announced via Loudwire that the band had parted ways with Winkler, the statement saying that there was no animosity towards him but that they just felt it was time to move on. The former Hinder singer has had struggles placing him in rehab before. Saving Abel’s Jared Weeks has often played with the re-jiggered group, and their future is somewhat uncertain though with more studio material promised as of early 2015 (with ex-producer Marshal Dutton being their current singer).

Use Me
Hinder Lyrics

She says she loves me, but I know she's a liar.
The sex is good, but God she's got no desire.
That's alright, she's takin' me home tonight.
She's kind of cold, but yet she's hot on the outside.
Last night got nasty and I'm still kind of tongue tied.
I hate to say it, but she brings out my sick side.
She's got whole lot of love (Any way you want it)
But it's never enough
(Finish what you started)
Take me to heaven above
(And leave me brokenhearted)
But I won't be a fool and fight it.
She's gonna use me but I like it. Yeah, yeah.
I bet she's wonderin' if I'm worth her while.
She's judge and jury and she's got me on trial.
But I ain't sweatin' cause I'm first on the speed dial.
Yeah, that's right, she's takin' me home tonight.
She always leaves and makes me feel kind of sleazy.
It's kind of cool because she already pleased me.
I'm lying here just thinking this is too easy.
Yeah, that's right, she's takin' me home tonight.
She's got whole lot of love (Any way you want it)
But it's never enough
(Finish what you started)
Take me to heaven above
(And leave me brokenhearted)
But I won't be a fool and fight it.
She's got a whole lot of love
(Anyway you need it)
But I've run out of luck
(Now she says she leaving)
Leavening me in the dust (But that's OK, we're leaving)
But I won't be a fool and fight it.
She's gonna use me but I like it. (Like it)
She's gonna use me but I like it. Yeah, yeah.
I think I might go with the safe bet this time.
She's got whole lot of love (Any way you want it)
But it's never enough
(Finish what you started)
Take me to heaven above
(And leave me brokenhearted)
But I won't be a fool and fight it.
She's got a whole lot of love
(Anyway you need it)
But I've run out of luck
(Now she says she leaving)
Leaving me in the dust
(But that's OK we're leaving)
But I won't be a fool and fight it.
And darling I just can't deny it.
Because you use me and I like it. (Like it)
Because you use me and I like it. (Like it)
Yeah Yeah
Like it. (Like it.)
Because you use me and I like it. (Like it)
Yeah, yeah.
In "Use Me," Hinder sings about a woman who is using the singer for sex and attention, but he doesn't mind being used. The song suggests that although the woman may be dishonest about her feelings, the physical pleasure and excitement she brings to his life are worth the emotional toll. The lyrics describe the woman as cold on the surface but sexually attractive, and the singer admits that he is willing to let her manipulate him because he is drawn to the thrill of their encounters.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the singer's acceptance of his situation: "She's gonna use me but I like it." He recognizes that he is being taken advantage of, but is willing to let it happen because he enjoys the experience. The bridge expresses some uncertainty and insecurity about the situation, but ultimately the singer decides to go along with it because it feels worth it in the moment.
Overall, "Use Me" speaks to the complicated and sometimes contradictory nature of sexual relationships, particularly in situations where one partner may be using the other. The lyrics capture the excitement and danger of such relationships, as well as the way that people can become addicted to the rush of being used.

Bought this CD in high school from a church rummage sale. I almost died because they had no idea how unchurch like the album was/is. Still one of my favorite memories from my teenage years.

This was definitely my favorite Hinder sound...maybe it's because I love 80s hair metal (which they're definitely going for on this one) but I love that fun party rock vibe this album has
