Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Howard Shore's song Feast Of Starlight are written in the fictional Elvish language from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth. The song describes a feast of starlight which is taking place, and speaks of the beauty and wonder of this mystical event. The opening lines read "Hae ephadron, Theri thaur" which means "Come brethren, find your places" and "Îmri zaiza, Am na dhû ias" which means "Sing and dance, for the night is long".

The later lines of the song "Fîr i ambar, A trehil i ('alad 'lân uir tri 'wilith)" express the idea that the feast of starlight is a time of celebration and joy, where all who are present are free to sing and dance to their hearts' content. Overall, the song is a beautiful and poetic expression of the supernatural and mystical elements which are so central to Tolkien's mythology.
