After signing a contract with Warner Bros, Laurie released a blues album Let Them Talk , which was released initially in France on April 18, 2011 and later in the UK on May 9th.
He has written one novel, "The Gun Seller," and another one, "The Paper Soldier," is tentatively scheduled for September 2009. Mr. Laurie has some musical talent, notably the piano and mouth trumpet (he can make convincing trumpet sounds using just his mouth). He played '20s numbers on the piano in the TV series "Jeeves and Wooster" (again with Stephen Fry) in addition to some original comic songs in "A Bit Of Fry & Laurie." He is currently a member of "Band from TV" with several other TV personalities. He is married with children, although he has become somewhat of an absentee father due to his work on American television while his family stays in London.
The St. Louis Blues
Hugh Laurie Lyrics

Evening sun go down
I hate to see that
Evening sun go down
'Cause my baby
Ain't gonna left this time
Feeling tomorrow
What if I feel tomorrow
Like I feel today
I pack my trunk
And make my getaway
The lyrics to Hugh Laurie's song "The St. Louis Blues" portrays a sense of loss and hopelessness. The singer expresses a deep sadness and reluctance to see the evening sun go down. This melancholic emotion stems from the fact that the singer's lover is leaving them, and they are helpless to stop it. The singer has been left before, and this time around, they are struggling to come to grips with the inevitability of their lover's departure. This sense of resignation is expressed in the repetition of the phrase "my baby ain't gonna left this time," which emphasizes the lack of agency the singer feels in this situation.
The second stanza of the song continues to explore the singer's emotions, expressing the fear of being stuck in the same situation tomorrow as they are today. The sense of despair is palpable in the lyrics "what if I feel tomorrow like I feel today," as the singer realizes that they might never move beyond this sense of defeat. The final line of the song, "I pack my trunk and make my getaway," indicates that the singer has resolved to leave, but this decision is tinged with an air of sadness, suggesting that their departure might be leaving them as hurt and alone as they were before.

I hate to see that
My heart aches when I witness
Evening sun go down
the sun setting in the horizon
I hate to see that
It's lamentable to watch
Evening sun go down
the sun disappears beneath the ground
'Cause my baby
Since my sweetheart
Ain't gonna left this time
won't depart again
Feeling tomorrow
Perceiving the coming day
Like I feel today
identical to the present
What if I feel tomorrow
Suppose I sense the next day
Like I feel today
the same as now
I pack my trunk
I'll put my things in a chest
And make my getaway
to make good my escape

I grew up with my Dad playing songs like this on banjo so I was thrilled to hear another 'take' on such a classic! From '47 Ginger Headed Sailors' to 'St. James Infirmary' you treat each piece with respect and grace. Thank you.
