Human.i.zer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I thought that we could be real
But instead you drag me down with how you feel
Cause we can't come to terms
With the lessons we've learned
Of why we're here in the first place
Make no mistake
Of why we're here in the first place
Make no mistake of why
We're here in the first place
I woke up on your front porch
Spent all night out in the cold
I just wanted to let you know
To let you know
No furniture empty drawers
Broken bottles on the floor
I just wanted to let you know
You buried the better me
Left me searching for a cloud beneath the waves
And we can't make it far
From this boardwalk town
That brought us here in the first place
Make no mistakes
Of why were here in the first place
Make no mistake
Of why we're here in the first place
I woke up on your front porch
Spent all night out in the cold
I just wanted to let you know
To let you know
No furniture empty drawers
Broken bottles on the floor
I just wanted to let you know
So we'll take
We'll take
What's left of this sinking town
And we'll make
We'll make
The worst of everything we have
Of everything we had
Of everything we had
So now you know that I
I woke up on your front porch
Spent all night out in the cold
I just wanted to let you know
To let you know
No furniture empty drawers
Broken bottles on the floor

I just wanted to let you know
That I let go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Human.i.zer's song #262 convey a sense of disillusionment and disappointment in a relationship that was once believed to be genuine and authentic. The singer expresses a longing for connection and honesty, but instead feels dragged down by their partner's emotions and the inability to reconcile their differences. The repetition of "why we're here in the first place" emphasizes a reflection on the purpose and meaning of the relationship, and the struggle to come to terms with the lessons learned along the way.

The imagery of waking up on the front porch, spending the night in the cold, and finding an empty, chaotic space with broken bottles and no furniture, creates a stark contrast to the initial hopes and dreams of the relationship. The singer's desire to communicate and convey their feelings, despite the messy aftermath of the relationship, highlights a sense of urgency and honesty in wanting to be heard and understood.

The refrain "I just wanted to let you know" suggests a yearning for closure and clarity, a final attempt to convey the depth of emotions and experiences that have shaped the relationship. The mention of burying the "better me" and feeling lost beneath the waves symbolizes a sense of self-destruction and confusion caused by the relationship's turmoil, leading to a realization that it may be time to let go and move on.

The closing lines reveal a bittersweet acceptance of the situation, acknowledging the sinking town and the remnants of what once was. The singer expresses a willingness to confront the pain and challenges of the past, and make the best of what remains, even as they let go and release themselves from the weight of the relationship. The lyrics capture a poignant and introspective journey of coming to terms with a failed relationship and finding the strength to move forward with resilience and clarity.

I've been following this guy's blog for over 13 years, and this is the first time I have seen him in the flesh. He is 100% like I imagined.

This interviewer is a caricature. I'm scared to think he might be genuine. Like, I've never seen someone embody the concept of a pseudo-intellectual so vividly. It has to be satire. Poor Scaruffi, nearly an hour of second hand embarrassment. Handled it well though.

Scaruffi is one of the greatest minds of his generation, and you can see his impatience burgeoning from the get-go as this absolute buffoon of a host fumbles his way through the interview. Scaruffi deserved better than this.

I'm always arguing that obscure people are important from indie rock to neuroscience.
