During a brief DJ-ing stint in the US in late 2K3, he was lucky enough find himself side-by-side with Free, former BET/106&Park host, introducing the number 8 video. Rapidly building a growing fan base with his reputation for quality turntabling skills, Hypasounds was identified as βThe Nexxβ in CiRCUIT Magazine, Barbadosβ leading youth culture magazine. Seems like CiRCUITβs predictions are coming through. When Hypasounds made his first BAJE appearance at 2K5βs Christmas Night Fete at Kendal Sporting Club, he proceeded to get the crowd rocking, flinging tunes left, right and centre, effectively getting the party started. It was a DJ performance that had BAJE patrons buzzing for weeks to come. During Crop-Over 2K6, Hypasounds created a stir, not only as a DJ, but as a performer. Hypasoundsβ 2K6 release Sunshine Girl emerged as a season favourite, burning up the airwaves. The ragga-soca track which is dedicated to the fairer sex debuted at the number 4 position on Hott 95.3 FMβs Hott in the Crop charts. It later jumped three positions to capture the top position. Sunshine Girl also broke into the Socaholic Top 20 on 98.1 The One, and ended up taking second place in the Peopleβs Monarch that same year. The popularity of Sunshine Girl outside of Barbados saw Hypasounds performing his hit in New York and Boston. This year, Hypasounds has returned with Sweat, another ragga-soca number which is turning out to be as popular as Sunshine Girl. Sweatβs slow-groove, wine-ya-waist stylings have made the track one of the most requested items for the season. Sweat has broken into the top 3 position on the charts of both Hott 95.3 FM and 98.1 The One. Hypasounds has performed his track at this seasonβs hypest events and locations, including Soca on the Hill.

I'm a Trinidadian and I have to give massive credit when it's due. Smokey Robinson once said that a great song is a great song because it can be played anytime, anyplace, and anywhere regardless of the era or genre and it will move you. This is the best slow groovy song for Carnival 2017. Machel is great but his 2 songs "fast wine" and "lip service" cannot touch Hypa this year. He has the sound of Burning Flames with a touch of subtlety that I find very amazing. And the reason why this is a great song is because in the midst of "rock and come in"..."I know the face"..."acting single"...and so much more great songs for 2017, I still think this song has an extremely rude, slow, deep & wicked baseline with seductive female back up singers that makes it the Caribbean anthem for 2017. And even more...Hypa is not on any sort of 1-hit runs here...he's been doing his thing for a while. Dutty in particular was nasty last year for example. As a Trinidadian I am fed up of the bias that so many artists get that don't deserve so much airplay. We need to stop that bullshit and let soca breathe so other artists can have the confidence to create across the Caribbean instead of us in Trinidad trying to be greedy and eventually kill the soca art form. Bless up Caribbean!!!! We large and we music sweet like diabetes!!!!!
@MrTonytocs
butcher777 No we need to keep our music to ourselves like Jamaicans. Trinidad doesnt even look unique anymore because everybody else singing soca, calypso and beating pan smh
@adelechambers745
MrTonytocs you can't keep soca to Trinidad that make sense obv u unaware of the uniqueness of the Caribbean and it's music... many caribbean countries sing soca but we all sound different Trini soca sound different from Bajan, Lucian,. Vincey, Grenadian jab jab n now Jamaica experimenting with it ...so just be cool we don't want to"steal Trini music"
@rainmekka5900
Have you noticed that international artists are recording reggae and reggae influenced music?...let the soca play no matter which island its from
@stephenlewis6647
the best come from trinidad
@adelechambers745
stephen lewis your opinion...
@deew7216
I'm a Jamaican that has fallen in love and has a appreciation for soca.this song is amazing and will be co side red a classic in the future
@valicia323
I love it when soca artists release songs 'off peak'. We shouldn't have to wait for carnival or crop over season to hear nice soca songs. Off peak releases is the way to go so that the music keeps growing and breaking into the mainstream. More artist need to do this.
