A year later, she met Caravan Palace bassist Antoine Toutsou through her parents and the pair played their first live show in 2004. Six months later, her backing group was expanded to three people when Higelin and Toutsou were joined by Sébastien Hoog and Vincent Polycarpe. She left school at the age of 15 in order to concentrate on a career in music.
In 2006, Higelin released her first extended play and the following year she opened for Iggy & the Stooges at the Printemps de Bourges music festival. She consequently embarked on a tour of France, which consisted of over thirty dates. On 8 June 2009, her eponymous debut studio album, Izia was released in France. In some reviews, the album garnered comparisons to Janis Joplin. The album performed reasonably well in the French albums chart, achieving a peak position of #31 and staying in the top 100 for 17 consecutive weeks.
She released the album So Much Trouble in 2011, and La Vague in 2015. Since 2012 she has also been active as a film actress.

(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
Tu t'en vas
(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
Tu t'en vas
(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
Tu t'en vas
(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
Rendre les coups finir à terre
La tête haute regarde moi
Les pieds nus marcher sur du verre
Je n'ai plus le goût de ça
Les yeux cernés marqués au fer
Je te cherche tu ne reviens pas
Tu ne reviens pas
(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
Tu ne reviens pas
(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
Tu ne reviens pas
(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
Tu ne reviens pas
(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
Tu ne reviens pas
(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
Non, non, non, tu ne reviens pas
(Ah ah ah ah ah ah)
The lyrics to IZIA's song Hey describe the aftermath of a tumultuous and intense relationship. The first verse paints a picture of the physical pain and emotional turmoil the singer has endured at the hands of their partner. The line "contre mon dos dans la lumière, brûle mes os, je reste là" translates to "against my back in the light, my bones are burning, I stay here". The use of light imagery suggests that this pain is being brought to the surface and exposed for all to see.
In the second verse, the singer seems to be gathering their strength and resolve to move on from the toxic relationship. They describe being beaten down and tired, but still standing tall with their head held high. The last two lines "je te cherche tu ne reviens pas, tu ne reviens pas" mean "I look for you, you don't come back, you don't come back". This repetition emphasizes the singer's longing and desperation for their partner to return, despite the obvious pain they have caused.
Overall, the song Hey is a raw and emotional depiction of the aftermath of a tumultuous relationship. It captures the physical pain, emotional turmoil, and ultimate resolve of the singer as they strive to move on from their broken relationship.
