A year later, she met Caravan Palace bassist Antoine Toutsou through her parents and the pair played their first live show in 2004. Six months later, her backing group was expanded to three people when Higelin and Toutsou were joined by Sébastien Hoog and Vincent Polycarpe. She left school at the age of 15 in order to concentrate on a career in music.
In 2006, Higelin released her first extended play and the following year she opened for Iggy & the Stooges at the Printemps de Bourges music festival. She consequently embarked on a tour of France, which consisted of over thirty dates. On 8 June 2009, her eponymous debut studio album, Izia was released in France. In some reviews, the album garnered comparisons to Janis Joplin. The album performed reasonably well in the French albums chart, achieving a peak position of #31 and staying in the top 100 for 17 consecutive weeks.
She released the album So Much Trouble in 2011, and La Vague in 2015. Since 2012 she has also been active as a film actress.

The lyrics of IZIA's song "Silence radio" express the feeling of being left in the dark, uncertain and confused about the reasons behind a lover's silence. The singer's attempts to understand why her partner is distant are met with a cold response that leaves her feeling lost at sea. The verse "Sous tes airs ton indifférent je prends l'eau" (Under your indifferent airs, I am drowning) paints a vivid picture of the singer struggling to keep her head above water as she tries to navigate the rocky terrain of the relationship.
The refrain "Mais quelle est la réponse? Où est le faux? Perdu dans ton silence radio" (But what is the answer? Where is the falsehood? Lost in your radio silence) highlights the frustration and desperation of the singer, who is searching for a way out of the confusion and ambiguity that surrounds her relationship. The repetition of the refrain throughout the song emphasizes the cyclical nature of the singer's thoughts, as she is trapped in a loop of questioning and uncertainty.
Overall, IZIA's song "Silence radio" is a powerful portrayal of the emotional turmoil that can result from a lack of communication and connection in a romantic relationship. The lyrics are filled with raw emotion and honesty, making it a relatable and impactful song for anyone who has experienced the pain of being left in the dark.
