It didn't take long for I the Mighty to start making an impression on the West Coast. The quartet landed on the music director's desk at local modern rock station Live 105 around the release of Hearts and Spades, and from there it's been one milestone after another. I the Mighty have found regular radio airplay, opening slots for Deftones, Hawthorne Heights, and There For Tomorrow, as well as packed venues up and down the West Coast. Not to mention glowing reviews and coverage in Alternative Press, AMP Magazine, and on AbsolutePunk.net
"We wanted to introduce I the Mighty and Hearts and Spades to as many people as possible, so we decided to put together a 'track hunt' and make each of the songs available on different social media sites and later on Purevolume.com," explains singer Brent Walsh. "We researched how our fans and friends discovered music online and embraced that by giving them a reason to connect with us (the EP for free) and then we tried to build a personal friendship with each one." The band's marketing strategy has been an unquestionable success, with over 3,500 full EP downloads within the first 3 months of release.
In addition to their high-energy live set, I the Mighty have paired new media intellect with traditional promotion to help build a loyal and enthusiastic group of fans.
They were signed to Equal Vision records and released three albums before breaking up in 2020 due to frontman Brent Walsh receiving sexual assault allegations.

I the Mighty Lyrics

It's not too deep
And when you find it, it may follow you to sleep
But that's alright to keep it on your mind
And let it trickle from your tongue as you decide
Just what you feel is true
No one can take your voice from you
The earth is giving in from down below
But no one seems to care
Just as long as they don't know
How much longer
Do we wait around
For the few that have control
To finally take it
How much longer
Do we wait around
Do we wait for the fallout
Call out the weak
Who dock the worker's pay to get the raise
Oh they forgot to heed
That Karma never sleeps
Well I, I refuse to dance for all your puppeteers
I'm the psycho with the scissors
Cutting the strings, my echo sings of how
The earth is giving in from down below
But no one seems to care
Just as long as they don't know
How much longer
Do we wait around
For the few that have control
To finally take it
How much longer
Do we wait around
Do we wait for the fallout
Consciousness is needed for our growth
So feed your hungry mind
Let the apprehension go
How much longer
Do we wait around
For the few that have control
To finally take it
How much longer
Do we wait around
Do we wait for the fallout
In "Echoes" by I the Mighty, the lyrics speak to the concept of being aware of the world around us and having the courage to speak up against injustice. The opening lines, "Dig up some dirt, It's not too deep, And when you find it, it may follow you to sleep", suggest that once we become aware of something wrong or unjust, it can be difficult to shake off and ignore. But the lyrics advocate for keeping these things on our minds and speaking up about them. The lines "No one can take your voice from you, And all through the halls my echo calls of how" emphasize the importance of individual voices and the collective impact they can have. The reference to the "echo" suggests that even if our voices don't immediately cause change, they can still carry and reverberate out into the world.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of those in power controlling the narrative and taking advantage of the less powerful. The lines "Call out the weak, Who dock the worker's pay to get the raise, Oh they forgot to heed, That Karma never sleeps" articulate a frustration with the actions of the few in power who exploit the rest. The chorus questions how long we will wait for change to come from those in power, and whether we will wait until it's too late, until the "fallout." The final lines of the song, "How much longer, Do we wait around, For the few that have control, To finally take it" speak to the need for action and change, and the agency that each individual has to contribute to that change.
