It didn't take long for I the Mighty to start making an impression on the West Coast. The quartet landed on the music director's desk at local modern rock station Live 105 around the release of Hearts and Spades, and from there it's been one milestone after another. I the Mighty have found regular radio airplay, opening slots for Deftones, Hawthorne Heights, and There For Tomorrow, as well as packed venues up and down the West Coast. Not to mention glowing reviews and coverage in Alternative Press, AMP Magazine, and on AbsolutePunk.net
"We wanted to introduce I the Mighty and Hearts and Spades to as many people as possible, so we decided to put together a 'track hunt' and make each of the songs available on different social media sites and later on Purevolume.com," explains singer Brent Walsh. "We researched how our fans and friends discovered music online and embraced that by giving them a reason to connect with us (the EP for free) and then we tried to build a personal friendship with each one." The band's marketing strategy has been an unquestionable success, with over 3,500 full EP downloads within the first 3 months of release.
In addition to their high-energy live set, I the Mighty have paired new media intellect with traditional promotion to help build a loyal and enthusiastic group of fans.
They were signed to Equal Vision records and released three albums before breaking up in 2020 due to frontman Brent Walsh receiving sexual assault allegations.
The Quick Fix
I the Mighty Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We are some elaborate plan.
We are just an investment,
A pawn for whom they call "the man."
Each of us a fragment,
Forming but a single piece.
Functional and overbearing,
Beautiful, but, underneath
We beg for it.
We scream for it.
A love to manifest and spread to the rest.
Oh, we claim America as bliss,
But beneath the skin we're in love with the quick fix.
Oh, the world is too much to digest.
Naive like a child, we're in love by the first kiss.
Fear or faith has always been a part of me
But I know better than to trust a few men with guns (run! run!)
Or a carefully worded document.
I know I'm not the only one
Who begs for it.
We scream for it.
Oh, we claim America as bliss,
But beneath the skin we're in love with the quick fix.
Oh,the world is too much to digest.
Naive like a child, we're in love by the first kiss.
If (if) if (if) everyone loved (loved) loved (loved) just a little more.
If (if) if (if) everyone loved (loved) loved (loved) just a little more.
We beg for it.
We scream for it.
A love to manifest and spread to the rest.
Oh, we claim America as bliss,
But beneath the skin we're in love with the quick fix.
Oh,the world is too much to digest.
Naive like a child, we're in love by the first kiss.
Turn on. Tune in. Turn off. Drop out.
In "The Quick Fix," the band I the Mighty critiques society's obsession with instant gratification and materialism. The lyrics suggest that rather than being seen as individuals with intrinsic value, we are viewed as mere investments, expendable pawns in someone else's grand scheme for profit. Despite this, we continue to beg and scream for love and acceptance, seeking a quick fix to satisfy our desires. The band notes that our society has become so overwhelmed by the constant barrage of information and the complexity of the world that we have become naive, looking for an easy solution to every problem, much like a child's first kiss.
The lyrics convey a sense of disillusionment and disillusionment with the American Dream, which promises happiness and success but is actually built on a system of inequality and exploitation. The song suggests that we need to be more aware and take responsibility for the world around us, rather than solely seeking personal gain. The final line "Turn on. Tune in. Turn off. Drop out." is a reference to the countercultural movement of the 1960s, calling for individuals to reject mainstream society and its values.

It's sad that most people will never listen and read the lyrics of bands like I, The Mighty, Dream on Dreamer, Hands Like Houses, and Architects. They all have positive messages and something to speak out for. But I'll always listen to these bands and share them with friends haha

@Jeff Joyce Bruh you better believe I'm taking you up on that offer haha. And I see you playing Nier Automata on your profile, you wanna talk about some beautiful fucking music! God I love that game. Ight, so my tastes have changed over the year, but Imma hit you with it: (Thornhill - Views From The Sun, Loathe - Screaming, Makari - Hyperreal) And lastly, Imma hit you with the heavy shit: (Gravemind - Phantom Pain, Sleepwaker - Turnaround, Alpha Wolf - No Name). Take a listen and tell me which ones you're really into, brother!
