Incubus is a five-man alternative rock band formed in 1991, based in Calabasas, California. Members include Brandon Boyd (vocals and percussion), Mike Einziger (guitar), Ben Kenney (bass), Jose Pasillas II (drums) and DJ Chris Kilmore (turntables). Former members of the band include Gavin Koppel (a.k.a. DJ Lyfe) (turntables) and Alex Katunich (a.k.a. Dirk Lance) (bass). The band's name may seem a peculiar choice to fans, as an incubus is a type of demon that, in mythological lore, comes in the night and has sex with women while they are sleeping; it seduces them in their dreams The story behind the name is that the band needed to think of a name hours before their first show and, after a few failed choices, Mike looked in a dictionary and chose "Incubus" almost at random. Mike says that the name was chosen because it sounded silly; Brandon holds that it was chosen because they were teenagers and the definition had the word "sex" in it. "We really didn't want to rape women in their sleep. But, we were fifteen and it seemed harmless to us then, and we never changed it," says the band.
Incubus has received both critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching multi-platinum sales, as well as releasing several successful singles. The band earned mainstream recognition with the release of their 1999 album Make Yourself. In 2001, Incubus became even more successful with the single "Drive" and their follow-up album Morning View. Their sixth studio album, Light Grenades, debuted at No. 1 in 2006 and has received Gold certification in the U.S. Incubus released their first greatest hits album Monuments and Melodies in June 2009, accompanied by a tour of the United States, Japan and Canada. The band's most recent album, 8, was released on April 21st, 2017.

The garbage truck beeps as it backs up
And I start my day thinking about what I've thrown away
Could I push rewind?
The credits traverse signifying the end
But I missed the best part, could we please go back to start?
Forgive my indecision
Then again, then again
Then again, you're always first when no one's on your side
But then again, then again
Then again, a day will come when I want off that ride, babe
11 a.m.
By now you would think that I would be up
But my bed sheets shade the heat of choices I've made
And what did I find?
I never thought I could want someone so much
'Cause now you're not here and I'm knee deep in that old fear
Forgive my indecision
I am only a man
Then again, then again
Then again, you're always first when no one's on your side
But then again, then again, again, again
Then again, a day will come when I want off that ride, baby
12 p.m. and my dusty telephone rings
Heavy head up from my pillow, who could it be?
I hope it's you
It's you
Oh, oh-oh-oh
Then again, then again
Then again, you're always first when no one's on your side
But then again, then again, again, again
Then again, the day has come and I want off that ride, babe
The song "11AM" by Incubus is a contemplation of one's past actions and the resulting consequences. It starts off with the singer waking up to the sound of the garbage truck beeping, reminding him of all the things he's thrown away. He's initially unsure of whether he wants to go back and relive those moments or not. The credits have already rolled, which signifies that the end is near, but he's missed the best part. He longs to go back to the start, to the moment when he can make a different choice.
The singer struggles with indecision as he wonders whether he's made the right choices in life. He acknowledges that he's not always been the best person, but he hopes for forgiveness. He laments the fact that he's alone and realizes that he's never wanted anyone as much as the person he's lost. He's knee-deep in the old fear of being alone again.
The last verse depicts the singer receiving a call from someone. He hopes that it's the person he's been thinking about throughout the song. He's heavy-headed but hopeful that the call would be from the person that he's been longing to hear from.
Overall, "11AM" is a poignant song that highlights the feeling of regret and missed opportunities. The singer's longing to go back to the start and undo his mistakes makes it a relatable experience for most people. The song's melancholic tone and Brandon Boyd's emotive vocals make it one of Incubus's most memorable tracks.
