I know my words drip through you I am the voice that you dread
You know its over now
I'm much safer than you know but I'm much too dangerous to explode
Whose side can I take if I can't have my own?
Am I the only one whose future I dont know?
I am the voice that you dread
I know my words drip through you I am the voice that you dread
I'm much safer than you know but I'm much too dangerous to explode
Whose side can I take if I can't have my own?
Am I the only one whose future I dont know
I'm much less safer than you know but I'm much too dangerous to explode
Whose side can I take if I can't have my own?
Am I the only one whose future I don't know
When I see you I really see you upside down
In the face of defeat, your overdue to stand your ground
With all your weight on my shoulders I will let you down
I'm much safer than you know but I'm much too dangerous to explode
Whose side can I take if I can't have my own?
Am I the only one whose future I dont know?
When I see you I really see you upside down
In the face of defeat, your overdue to stand your ground
With all your weight on my shoulders I will let you down
The lyrics to Inertia's song "Face of Defeat Pt. 2" address themes of identity, uncertainty, and external pressure. The singer sees themselves as a voice that elicits fear in others and acknowledges the power of their words. However, they also struggle with feeling lost in their own future and unable to take a clear stance. The repetition of the lines "I'm much safer than you know but I'm much too dangerous to explode" and "Whose side can I take if I can't have my own?" highlight this internal conflict.
The second half of the song shifts to addressing another person directly, possibly someone the singer feels responsible for. Despite the weight of this person's metaphorical "weight on my shoulders," the singer feels unable to live up to their expectations and fears letting them down. The final lines repeat the earlier image of seeing this person upside down and urge them to stand their ground.
Overall, the lyrics suggest a struggle to reconcile internal and external pressures, leading to feelings of uncertainty and the fear of letting others down.
