From where does the wind blow?
Instant poetry Lyrics

From where does the wind blow?

From where does the wind blow today,
pregnant with prayers?
Does it blow with all that weight?
Holy wind – let the storm begin
almost now and almost never
Oh – guide my flight
Oh – guide my flight
Oh – guide my flight
Ride this carpet ´til it burns

I see little holes in the clouds
a strange kind of blue
Let us go and get us some
to paint our skin and the storm will end
almost now and almost never

From where does the wind blow today?
I feel lightyears away.
´seems like it doesn´t blow at all.
Holy wind – let the storm begin
almost now and almost never

Let us burn a thousand days and let us waste some time!

From where does the wind blow today?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Instant Poetry's song "From where does the wind blow?" depict a person's search for direction and purpose in their life. The singer is questioning the origin and destination of the wind, which is a metaphor for the uncertainties and challenges faced in life. The wind is "pregnant with prayers," which suggests that it carries the hopes and dreams of people, and the weight of their desires is reflected in the intensity of the wind. The singer seeks the guidance of the "holy wind" to start a storm, which perhaps symbolizes the trials and tests they must endure to find their way.

The lyrics also evoke a sense of wanderlust and escape from the mundanity of life. The singer sees "little holes in the clouds" and a "strange kind of blue," which indicates a longing for something beyond the ordinary. They want to "get us some" of whatever is on the other side of the clouds, something that would allow them to paint their skin, perhaps a reference to a transformative experience. The final lines suggest a desire to live in the moment and indulge in the pleasures of life, rather than worrying about the future.

Overall, the song encourages listeners to embrace change and take risks, albeit with the guidance of a higher power. It speaks to the universal human experience of grappling with uncertainties and the need for direction and purpose.
