How it`s lost

How it's lost

So you think that you know how to continue the show
on your own pretending there's nobody home.
You turn the light's off – maybe you're just worried 'bout the cost?

Love is not how it's found
Love is not how it's found
it's how it's lost!

When you try not to cry in the night and you can't close you're eyes
it's the pain deep inside there's an ocean of tears and you are sailing
'til all this water finally turns to dust

And you play along to other people's music
but their song you cannot hear
And you're gazing at the beautiful blue sky
but the sky is just not there
And you're looking for the meaning
but the meaning and the reasons disappeared

So you think that you know how to continue the show

on your own pretending there's nobody home.
You turn the light's off – maybe you're just worried 'bout the cost?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Instant Poetry's "How it's lost" convey a sense of isolation in the face of emotional pain. The first stanza describes someone who is trying to carry on with life despite feeling alone and disconnected. They turn off the lights, perhaps in an attempt to avoid the reality of the situation. The phrase "Love is not how it's found, it's how it's lost" suggests that the singer believes that it is in losing love that one truly understands its meaning.

The second stanza delves deeper into the feelings of the singer. They can't sleep and are consumed by their inner pain. The image of sailing on an ocean of tears is a powerful metaphor for the depth and intensity of the emotions the singer is experiencing. They long for resolution, for the water to turn to dust and the pain to dissipate.

The third stanza touches on the idea of disconnection from the world. The singer cannot connect with the music of others, cannot see the beauty of the sky, and cannot find meaning or reasons for their pain. The repetition of the first stanza at the end of the song further emphasizes the sense of being lost and alone.

Overall, the lyrics of "How it's lost" capture a complex range of emotions, from isolation and pain to longing and disconnection.

My first attempt at slam poetry

Trying

Trying to see my hair in the morning
Move out the way because I'm trying
In my bed as I lay dying
Romantic movies have me crying
Trying to comb my hair
But Theres knots that
stop me from trying
Trying so hard
To end up yelling
Trying to focus on my inhaling
And exhaling
Trying to get my products selling
Wrong words I be spelling
Trying to find love in life
Trying to make someone
a forever wife
Trying till the point
where I can't stand
Trying to figure out if
love is fiction
Trying to end this addiction
Trying to get away
from this eviction
Trying to solve problems
all the time
Trying to get this
math question right
Despite knowing it's wrong
Trying to get along
Trying to make a song
Sing along
Trying to be great at what I do
But who knew there was no screw
Who knew I was gonna
make it this far
Trying to buy my dream car
Trying to upgrade when
people view me as a downgrade
Trying to over come the fears
As she whispered in my ear
I can hear it clear
Shiny bright chandelier

As someone who went to a liberal arts college, I can’t explain how accurate the representation of 21 year old art majors being impressed by the most asinine poems ever spoken is.

What?

I think you spelled "complete lack of talent" wrong

Love how Jenko is already laughing before Schmidt even starts like he knows the disaster's coming

I was thinking Channing didn't know about this performance and so what you saw was his genuine reaction of it all happening. Makes it funnier.

noobie

Na'eemah Phanelson that would be cool

Jenko is a straight line thinker, no wiggle room for his perception of the world.
