Cavernous Den of Shame
Intronaut Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Run aground in waters evaporating
Infinite cycle wants an ending
Asking questions without answers
Bliss was never knowing
The hunt was better than the kill.
In the first verse of "Cavernous Den of Shame," Intronaut sings about narrowly escaping a storm that has engulfed them. This could be interpreted in a few ways - perhaps they have been caught in a literal storm at sea, or maybe they are speaking metaphorically, saying that they have narrowly escaped a difficult or challenging situation. The next line, "run aground in waters evaporating," paints a bleak picture of being stranded in an environment that is drying up and disappearing. The phrase "infinite cycle wants an ending" suggests that the singer is feeling trapped or stuck in a repeating pattern. They are asking questions without answers - this could be seen as an expression of frustration or confusion.
The final two lines of the verse are particularly interesting: "Bliss was never knowing / The hunt was better than the kill." This could be taken a few different ways, but one interpretation is that the singer is reflecting on a time when they were pursuing something (a goal, a relationship, etc.) and enjoyed the chase more than the actual end result. This could be seen as bittersweet - they are acknowledging that they were never really satisfied with what they were chasing after, but they also enjoyed the adrenaline rush of going after it.
Overall, "Cavernous Den of Shame" is a complex and emotional song that touches on themes of frustration, searching, and the ups and downs of the pursuit of something. The lyrics are open to interpretation and could mean different things to different listeners.
