Handed down from the past
The clearest path
No questions asked
In the name of rhetoric
Prophecies are fulfilled
Theres much more to see
Without your own two eyes
The lyrics to Intronaut's song Prehistoricisms delve into the concept of blindly following traditions and beliefs that have been passed down through generations without questioning their validity or relevance in the present-day. The "reactive mass" referred to in the opening line could symbolize the collective consciousness of society, which reacts to internal and external stimuli in a predetermined manner. This reactive mass has been "handed down from the past," indicating that these patterns of behavior have been ingrained in society for generations.
The second line, "the clearest path, no questions asked," portrays the idea that following these established norms and beliefs is the easiest path to take, without having to delve into the complexities of critical thinking and self-discovery. These traditions are often upheld through "rhetoric," or persuasive language, which reinforces the idea that these beliefs are the only ones worth adhering to.
The lyric "prophecies are fulfilled" could allude to the idea that these beliefs are often self-fulfilling prophecies, as individuals are conditioned to behave in certain ways based on these beliefs. The final line, "there's much more to see without your own two eyes," challenges the idea that blindly following these beliefs is the only way to see the world, and encourages individuals to think for themselves and discover their own path.
