Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In the shape of the beast, they dwelled
Far behind, far ahead
From waters to valleys
Tablets forged in gold
Secrets kept
Under the dark side of the sun,
Blood runs cold, memories fade away, and ghosts do stir...
In Intronaut's song "Core Relations," the lyrics paint a mysterious picture of survival, dwelling, and secrets kept. The first two lines introduce the image of fire and beasts, suggesting that the subjects of the song have lived through dangerous and transformative experiences. The next two lines, "Far behind, far ahead / From waters to valleys," give a sense of vastness and distance, as though the subjects of the song have journeyed through many lands and times.
The mention of "tablets forged in gold" suggests an element of ancient wisdom, and the phrase "secrets kept" reinforces the idea that the subjects of the song possess knowledge that is not meant for everyone to know. The final line, "Under the dark side of the sun, / Blood runs cold, memories fade away, and ghosts do stir," adds a haunting tone to the lyrics, as though the previous lines have led to a sense of loss and isolation.
Overall, "Core Relations" conveys a sense of mystery and otherworldliness, as though the subjects of the song have lived through experiences that are beyond the ordinary, and carry with them knowledge that is both valuable and dangerous.
