Sueños
Iratxo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Se entrego en okupar abriles,
y no cerrar primavera alguna,
paso el viento por su cama,
El que calentó el viejo cartón,
Maleando las miras de existir,
sacando a tender guijarros,

Marea, mareo, colores y lunas,

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Iratxo's song Sueños tell the story of someone who has lived a difficult life, one of homelessness and poverty. The first verse describes how this person committed themselves to squatting and never closing any doors, as they struggled to survive through the years. They would lay on old cardboard and feel the wind pass by, warming their heart. They would also collect small stones and admire them, enjoying the beauty of the moonlight as it reflected off of their delicate surfaces. This person had lost hope in life and felt that it had nothing more to offer, causing them to only see the negative in everything around them.

The chorus seems to describe this person as being a fighter. They leave footprints on the walls, and they stir up their own ideas which provide them with a sense of purpose. The lyrics also speak of this person finding solace in the mundane, like drinking whatever they can find on the street or even in the act of receiving a kick from life's harsh realities. However, despite their struggles, this person did not give up. They became sane before they could lose themselves entirely, and they left a positive impact on the life of the person singing the song. This person was their everything- their beach, their sand, their sun and their foam, their tides, their dizziness, their colors, and their moons.

The verses go on to describe how this person found distractions in life's curves and fell softly into the abyss of their surroundings. They slept through the harshest of the cold winters, warm by the fire, and felt the textures of the ground on their fingertips. They vomited their screams into the rain that fell and found a form of release as it washed away. Finally, in the end, the lyrics speak of how this person had taken step to move on with their lives, to leave behind the bad moments and open up the gates to their own personal hell.
