As a teenager, Sangalo started to sing and play acoustic guitar at events, festivals and presentations of the school where she studied. Her debut show happened in the Ondina Neighborhood, Salvador, in August 1992. With that show she won the Dorival Caymmi trophy, the Grammy of Bahian music.
In 1993, Sony decided to reform the axé group Banda Eva and she was chosen as the lead singer. With her charismatic image, their first album soon topped the Brazilian album chart. Her live album with the band, Banda Eva Ao Vivo, was their best-selling album, selling over a million copies in 1997. In 1999, she decided to start a solo career and released her first self-titled album. With lots of upbeat Bahian rhythms and axé, the album received gold and platinum certification. The following year she released another album, Beat Beleza, which also achieved platinum status.
In 2001 she released the album Festa. The title teack was very popular and the album got platinum certification. "Festa" was her biggest hit single up to that point and the video also received huge airplay. "Festa" ended up being the most popular song of 2001 in Brazil. In 2002, she released the compilation album Se Eu Não Te Amasse Tanto Assim, titled after one of her biggest number-one hits. The album, which features a duet with American singer Brian McKnight, didn't sell as much , but was still a hit. Following Se Eu Não Te Amasse Tanto Assim, she released Clube Carnavalesco Inocentes Em Progresso in 2003. It was the lowest-selling solo album of her career but it still managed to receive gold certification.
Her first solo live album MTV Ao Vivo Ivete Sangalo released in 2004, included her biggest hits, lots of them never released on an album before, and some Banda Eva hits. The album received diamond certification and was the second best-selling album of 2004.
Her 2005 album, As Supernovas, received triple platinum certification shortly after it's release. The album was less upbeat than the others and included some songs with a 70's touch, with the big influence of Brazilian singer Ed Motta. She also included the hit "Soy Loco Por Ti America", a Gilberto Gil song. "Quando a Chuva Passar" recently reached number two on the Brazilian singles chart and was notable for being nominated at the Latin Grammy Awards, an uncommon feature for a non-Spanish speaking singer.
On December 16, 2006, she performed in the biggest stadium in the world, Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, where Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Kiss, The Police, and Madonna have also performed. She was the first Brazilian act to perform in this stadium since pop phenomenon Sandy & Junior in 2002.
Ivete has sold more than 7 million CD copies and more than 2.5 million DVD copies.

Já sei onde vou nessa onda, 'to doido afim de dançar
Solta o som pra animar a noite DJ
Todo mundo ligado, noite do bem
Nesse lance, vou nesse ritmo, tudo pode rolar
Já sei onde vou nessa onda, 'to doido afim de dançar
Solta o som pra animar a noite DJ
Aceleraê, o coração
Hoje é dia de Ivete
Aceleraê, um coração
Aceleraê, o coração
Hoje é dia de Ivete
Aceleraê, o coração (ah ah)
Mão com mão, Eu você curtição
Pense bem, mente sã, corpo são
Eu 'to feliz, eu 'to afim, eu 'to na minha Bahia
E nesse astral
Vou ficar até amanhecer
Aceleraê, o coração
Hoje é dia de Ivete
Aceleraê, o coração
Aceleraê, o coração
Hoje é dia de Ivete
Aceleraê, o coração
Festa no gueto
Pode vir, pode chegar
Misturando o mundo inteiro
Vamo vê no que é que dá
Hoje tem festa no gueto
Pode vir, pode chegar
Misturando o mundo inteiro
Vamo vê no que é que dá
Tem gente de toda cor
Tem raça de toda fé
Guitarras de rock'n roll
Batuque de candomblé
Vai lá, pra ver
A tribo se balançar
E o chão da terra tremer
Mãe Preta de lá mandou chamar
Avisou! Avisou! Avisou! Avisou!
Que vai rolar a festa
Vai rolar!
O povo do gueto
Mandou avisar
Que vai rolar a festa
Vai rolar!
O povo do gueto
Mandou avisar
Que vai rolar a festa
Vai rolar!
O povo do gueto
Mandou avisar
Que vai rolar a festa
Vai rolar!
O povo do gueto
Mandou avisar
Poeira, poeira, poeira
Levantou poeira
A minha sorte grande foi você cair do céu
Minha paixão verdadeira
Viver a emoção, ganhar teu coração
Pra ser feliz a vida inteira
Porque é lindo o teu sorriso, o brilho dos teus olhos
Meu anjo querubim
Doces dos meus beijos, calor dos meus braços
Perfume de jasmim
Chegou no meu espaço mandando no pedaço
Um amor que não é brincadeira
Pegou me deu um laço,
Dançou bem no compasso,
E de prazer levantou poeira
Poeira, poeira, poeira
Levantou poeira
Poeira, poeira, poeira
Levantou poeira
Poeira, poeira, poeira
(Levantou) Levantou poeira
The lyrics of Ivete Sangalo's song Acelera Aê / Festa / Sorte Grande express the excitement and euphoria of a party atmosphere. The singer expresses her eagerness to dance to the DJ's music and her happiness to be in her home state of Bahia. The chorus repeats the words "Aceleraê, o coração" (Speed up, heart), which can be interpreted as a command to let loose and have a good time. The second half of the song shifts to a celebration of diversity and the coming together of different cultures in the party atmosphere. The final verse is a declaration of love, with the singer thanking the person who "fell from the sky" and became her "true passion" and "guardian angel".
One interesting fact about this song is that it was one of the biggest hits of Ivete Sangalo's career in Brazil, and has become an anthem for the Carnival season. It was released in 2003 as part of her album Clube Carnavalesco Inocentes em Progresso. Another interesting fact is that the music video for this song was filmed during a live performance at a street party in Salvador, Bahia, and captures the energy and excitement of the crowd. The song also features a mix of different musical styles, such as samba, axé, rock, and candomblé, which reflects the cultural diversity of Brazil.
Another interesting aspect of this song is its use of Bahian Portuguese, which is a regional dialect spoken in the state of Bahia. This dialect incorporates elements of Portuguese, West African languages, and indigenous languages, and is characterized by its use of slang, idioms, and double-entendres. The song's chorus, "Aceleraê, o coração", for example, can be interpreted both literally as "speed up, heart", but also figuratively as "let your heart race with excitement".
Overall, Ivete Sangalo's Acelera Aê / Festa / Sorte Grande is a fun and celebratory song that captures the joy and energy of a Brazilian street party. Its catchy chorus and mix of musical styles have made it a popular anthem for Carnival season, and its use of Bahian Portuguese adds a playful and distinctive touch.
