Lake
Jack Stauber Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I′m surely alive! (Can you stand up, bro?)
Hey!
Oh

Knowledge and skepticals
Water and chemicals
Chin up and lower the shield
Assuming the closed wound is healed

Sunset window looks at the lake
With a certain visage that is quite
Difficult to break

With a word or a jab
From a pen or a stone
You're better off flying
Than being alone

Birds at the harbor
Fish-eating martyrs
Follow the floating debris
I′m glad they're not following me

Sunset window looks at the lake
With a certain visage that is quite
Difficult to break

With a word or a jab
From a pen or a stone
You're better off flying
Than being alone

Sunset window looks at the lake
With a certain visage that is quite
Difficult to break

With a word or a jab
From a pen or a stone

You′re better off flying
Than being alone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Jack Stauber's song "Lake" are mysterious and open to interpretation. The song starts with the words "I'm surely alive" and a question, "Can you stand up, bro?". This could be interpreted as a message of survival and encouragement to the listener. The next few lines mention "knowledge and skeptics" and "water and chemicals", which could be a commentary on the state of the world and the impact of human actions on the environment. The mention of lowering the shield and assuming a closed wound is healed adds to the theme of resilience and survival.

The chorus of the song talks about a "sunset window" looking at the lake, with a "certain visage that is quite difficult to break". This seems to describe a serene and peaceful setting, but there may be an underlying sense of sadness or loneliness that the "visage" cannot express. The next lines suggest that it's better to "fly" than be alone, which again adds to the theme of survival and finding a way to cope with difficult situations.

The final two verses talk about birds at the harbor and fish-eating martyrs. These could be symbolic of the struggles of life and the harshness of the world. The singer of the song is glad that the birds and fish are not following them, perhaps indicating the desire for freedom from these struggles. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the importance of finding a way to break the "visage" and not being alone.

Overall, the lyrics of "Lake" seem to be about resilience, survival, and the struggle of finding peace in a difficult world.

the song title Buttercup I think conveys the same meaning as the song "Build me up buttercup" A guy trying to work things out in relationship but to find himself being let down and disappointed, but since he cannot leave her little poison, "fine, electrify mine, electrify my golden tooth (maybe stands for something precious, i.e.: self, life). his way of taking on the challenge.

When he said forget it I will do it sometime he meant that he will try to talk to a female he likes. When he said Im locked up on the button he was to scared to talk to her and he freezes and cant you do it sometime he meant instead of going up and talking to the girl he wants the girl to talk to him. and pushed it in to far he meant that he tried his hardest to talk to her.
